Brilliant PSA

Wouldn't work in the US.

"Embrace life"?

You know there'd be groups protesting it, claiming it's anti-abortion!

On a less sarcastic note...i think Americans need more of a shock to stir our hearts to change.

( i think most of those who like the commercial are already putting on their seat belts).

Beautiful, and, personally, much more effective than the "Click it or get a ticket" authoritarian bullshit the government typically pumps out on this side of the pond.

I think it's kind of melodramatic, drawn out and lame, actualy. But, yeah, better than most of what we're doing now.

The "Click or Ticket" thing is dumb. I say we just hang signs that say, "If you can't understand the basic laws of physics and would rather have the sterring-wheel or windshield stop you in a crash over a simple nylon strap then more power to you. See you on the otherside dimwit."

I can't find the video, I wish I could, but I remember one PSA that really got to me. It was from Americans for the Arts promoting the arts in public schools. It was simply a classical violinist busking in a park, playing beautifully, when a young boy and his mother walk by and they boy snarks, "Get a job." It was a very powerful ad.

I think he could suck the fun out of cotton candy.

It's true, I can. :)

May be "cornball" to you-but as the father of 2 small children I actually think about things like running yellow lights or buckling up. When you become a parent you can't help it-you suddenly have other lives you are responsible for and it changes your outlook. I'd say this hits it's target audience dead on.

Thank goodness I'm not the type of person who needs to have children before I realize running yellows is a bad idea and buckling up is a good one. Not only that, but also knowing that while driving, even without anyone else in your car, children or otherwise, you've always been responsible for others lives.

Well said T'Baio.

Running yellow lights is dangerous? Why? There should be no cross-traffic (which would have a red light and even if I'm in the intersection when the light changes I still have the right of way.)

Yellow means stop if you can. Not gun it to get through. That's generally what "running the light" means.

Well, yeah, it doesn't mean gun it to get through, also doesn't mean hit the brakes and stop as fast as you can. If you can get through it without altering your speed by all means, do it.

Stopping short on the yellow just causes accidents and congestion.

There's a nuance to the yellow light between skidding to a halt early and figuring you should gun it up to 65 to get through that you may have missed Trekker 4747
T'Baio and are Canadians thus incredibly skilled and responsible drivers.
