Brilliant PSA

I'm sorry but I'm a pretty sappy guy (I even use pics of my Maltese dogs as my avatar!) and that was just too syrupy.
Those Latter Day Saints commercials are much better.

I loved it. I nearly teared up when the daughter wraps her hands around her dad's waist. Just brilliant.

Oh, shit...I don't have a wife and kid. Guess my life ain't worth living.

That was stupid.

 Yeah, that was the message, right there.

Good commercial. I happen to think those 'Shock' ones work well, but you need to change tactics to keep people's interest. This one was very good as a different approach.

[Insert parents and/or close friends here]

If you don't have any of those, I feel sorry for you.

But really, way to miss the point, good job on that one. :techman:

Didn't love it, too cornball for me. Huggle belts wuvs you just like your family? Does this sort of thing really convince anyone? I buckle up out of a healthy understanding and fear of physics.

As for the 'authoritarian bullshit', well, I have at least one friend whose life was saved by wearing a seatbelt (ok, maybe he wouldn't have died, but he'd have at least been in for a good maiming!), and the only reason he was wearing it was because he had gotten a ticket a few months beforehand and didn't want to get hit in his wallet again.

Personally, if someone doesn't understand the point of seatbelts and the physics behind a car crash and all, well, you know...Darwin awards and all.

I can understand some short people maybe not wanting to wear seat belts because they can get in the way a bit (like my ma! lol) but at the same time, its also a cover your ass kinda thing and ya wear it anyway! Cops will have no sympathy if you're in an accident and you weren't wearing your seat belt. How many times do we hear of these horrible accidents were someone's thrown out of the car or through the window, or slammed around the cabin by a side or front or rear impact.

Or is it because they hate Dick Cheney who was the major proponent for making sure seat belts installed in cars was a law. Yeah, blame Dick Cheney just like some arsetards blame Bush.

No, it was very thoughtfully done.

I was joking.

Not very well.

I think he could suck the fun out of cotton candy.

May be "cornball" to you-but as the father of 2 small children I actually think about things like running yellow lights or buckling up. When you become a parent you can't help it-you suddenly have other lives you are responsible for and it changes your outlook. I'd say this hits it's target audience dead on.

It's true, I can. :)

Thank goodness I'm not the type of person who needs to have children before I realize running yellows is a bad idea and buckling up is a good one. Not only that, but also knowing that while driving, even without anyone else in your car, children or otherwise, you've always been responsible for others lives.

NS, Sherlock. Don't teach yer Granpa to suck eggs. Fatherhood didn't imbue me with some divine inspiration along those lines-but it does focus your attention on such concepts to a higher degree. Point being, it alters your priorities and therefore your viewpoint, making said PSA far more impactful. But go ahead and twist what I said to make it sound as if I was a thoughtless idiot with little regard for others before becoming a daddy-its the kind of thing you usually do in these posts, anyway. As long as it makes you-no, not happpy, for your displeasure with life and general cynacism(sp?) are readily apparent in the majority of your posts-perhaps "satisfied" is the word I need.
