Data looked awkward. The CGI did not do a complete job.

I randomly watched Time’s Arrow today. In it he muses about how knowledge of his mortality comforts him. A small detail amplified by Picard.

I think I found the uniform they used in ST:Picard. These are made by Anovos:

Here's an updated version of the Data scene which is also a bit longer:

I’m glad it was Brent Spiner and not some one else. Also now he has a new role too.

I think the new version gets points for smoother skin but loses points in uncanny valley.

These guys were playing these roles when I was six years old.

I'd have never believed that I'd still be watching them as I approach my 40th birthday... much less that they'd look as good they do or that the scenes would be as good as they are.

There are lots of small changes like darker eyes and lips, smoother skin, thinner cheeks, improved hair, removed zippers, corrected position of rank pips...

Someone tried to deepfake Data's face in Star Trek: Picard. The resullt is...well...strange. ;-)

That was... Interesting. He definitely looks younger but the uncanny valley issues are greater.

Someone tried a deepfake of Data's entire head. It looks remarkable!

Going out on a limb here ..................., but I think that by the time the Picard series wraps up…………….Data’s story isn’t done yet.

*Even just a quick last scene flash. :-)

    Q?

Yeah, CGI Data is the least of my concerns.

Now that's what I'm talking about, they could have done a better job, I expected a better more consistent job to be done, put this is better than what I expected to see on the show, and I doubt Millions went into that work, that makes the official version look even worse

Yeah...considering how great the Enterprise D and Ten Forward looked. They clearly had the budget. But they had other priorities.

I still can't believe how poorly Brent Spiner was made up in the first place. Why in the world did they put a hairpiece on him with that particular shape/hairline? Imagine the time, money, and effort it too to correct it digitally. That T/M/E could have been better spent on his actual face.
