as a Fan, yeah, technically it's enough for me that he is there, but as a VFX person, I think it sets a bad example of what should and should not be done digitally, and the hairline still isn't quite right, it became VFX Artist's Job to do that front hair, a VFX Artist has to worry about getting it right, that's part of having and keeping a Job

You also think that the hairline was manipulated digitally? My guess is that it was higher originally, either because they used Spiner's real hair or because they used a wig with a higher hairline. And so they decied to change it in post to make him appear younger.

it was obviously digitally manipulated, hell in the trailer a few months back showing him painting, the hairline actualleywobbled a bit

You know...to some degree you are right. But I'm just a little dissapointed about the missing attention to detail by these well paid professionals.

Yeah, it was obvious in the trailer. But it was less obvious in the poker scene.

Let's see how the rest of the VFX are before we judge them ;)

And the TNG and First Contact uniforms in Picard look a little bit like uniforms you see at conventions. They are not accurate and don't fit very well.

On the other hand I'm glad that they did not redesign them. The "visual canon" of TNG is still alive. Ten Forward looks great btw. they even used identical chairs.

I think most of the VFX will look great.

I have to agree, the Uniform's look a bit on the Cosplay side. at the end of the day, as a fan though, regardless of what doesn't look quite right, it is definitely a thrill to see Brent back in makeup as Data, and onscreen with Patrick/Picard.

I like the faint audio from Blue Skies playing in the background. "Never saw the sun..."
[Edit: Okay, in the longer scene it's not remotely subtle.]

But I don't like that Data looks like Steven Seagal at a Star Trek convention. All that digital tinkering and no one thought to slim down his neck a bit? The close-ups look good, but the hairline in the wide shots is very distracting.

I think the first close up looks the best.

I'm also relieved that so far the TNG designs are unaltered!
And Data's FC uniform with its wrinkles and off-angle communicator canonize my mom-made uniform, so I'm happy XD

Accurate-ish. It seems to be made from a different material, which is maybe why it looks a little baggier. The material is less stiff.

Now that I've seen it with better resolution, the only odd thing I noticed was that the collar is too high. Maybe it's cold in dream-10-fwd XD

I think it's more likely to help hide Brent's 70 year old neck, and if his neck isn't onscreen, they done have to worry about smoothing the skin on it, or turkey neck reduction,

So is it time to take the question mark out of this thread title?
