News Brent Spiner Returned for "Picard" (and you could do the CGI better in 15 minutes, we get it)

because of Copyright reasons, I can not have the video on youtube, but I spent about 30-40 minute slimming Data's face for his brief shot in the trailer, if I had higher end software I probably could have done it quicker, but I would think, I would hope, that CBS continues to refine the digital touch-ups, they certainly have time

So Picard basically can't live with out Data, so he created a hologram he can visit, play cards with, and seek advice.

I think some of us forget that Data is no longer Data. He is B-4 with Data’s “brain” in him. All we know is that B-4 was an earlier version of Data. For all we know, Dr. Soong could have built in “natural” aging to B-4’s system, which he later didn’t do for Data for whatever reason. Maybe he felt that an aging process for the android would make him more accepted in society. Just spit-balling here.
Brent Spiner said specifically that he will be playing Data, not B4. I suppose if you wanted to split hairs, you could say that once Data's brain was downloaded into B4, it became Data. But I don't think that's what he meant. I could be wrong, though.

I could see him uploading Data's mind into a Holodeck, so technically it is 100% Data but in a holographic body. An EDH (Emergency Data Hologram)?

"Please state the nature of the logical emergency"

Maybe 7 of 9 can provide some advice/tech to help holographic Data walk around in the real world.

In the TNG episode "Inheritance," it was stated that Data (and the Juliana Tainer android) has programming to make him appear to age physically.

Does B4 have that feature? Because if Data is now in B4’s body it wouldn’t matter.

Whether B4 was meant to have that feature in-universe, there's no escaping the issue of Spiner aging in real life.

As long as his voice is still intact, his age doesn’t really matter. Just ask Samuel L. Jackson and James Earl Jones.

James Earl Jones sounds different. I don't like it. I mean, it's no one's fault but I don't like it.

Well if Data is a hologram/illusion of how he last looked in Nemesis, then he wouldn't have aged in the last 20 years.

Where is this 'hologram' idea coming from? Has someone said something official to that effect?

He didn't sound all that different in ROTS and Rogue One.

Maybe that's been done by design to throw us off. Season 1 of Picard is still filming (which started April 22) and isn't expected to wrap until October 1st. So what we're seeing is most likely an unfinished effects shot with his face being digitally slimmed come post-production. Now, was it released early and unfinished just so we had a smidge of Data to cap the trailer and get people excited? Or was it released that way to throw us off into thinking it's just a few cameos and that Spiner isn't a full time cast member. They're throwing a fuck ton of money at this show. Digitally slimming Spiner's face every week isn't completely out of the question.

I don't remember his lines in Rogue One. And yeah, I think he sounded the same in ROTS. I'm thinking specifically of the cartoon. He didn't sound right, like they added an artificial layer to his voice.
