Breaking Official Announcement: Fourth ‘Star Trek’ Movie A Go At Paramount

So, is Hemsworth bringing his Thor muscles to Trek or will he have time to lose some mass before filming?

Why does he need to lose mass???

I vaguely remember hearing him in an interview, talking about how he likes to slim down when he's not scheduled to play Thor because that way it's easier for him to get more and different roles.

He always looks smaller when he isn't playing Thor from what I've seen. I think he'd already lose a little mass by then. Pine has bulked up a bit for Wonder Woman.

RAMA

torture Beyond's plot to equate it with The Search For Spock, and then insist that going true-to-pattern the fourth reboot movie must be about time travel
Doesn't take much.
Movie #1 was about getting the crew together in one place to go face a giant insurmountable ship from who-knows-where
Movie #2 had Khan in it
Movie #3 has the Enterprise being blown planet-low
Movie #4...

still, I hope not!

so, what about the 5th movie? No announcement yet?

Hopefully the reason Pegg is not writing this one is because he is too busy writing 5.

If the human brain loves to see patterns. That's why we survived the cave man era without getting eaten.

TBH, this news has me worried.

Writers: J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Who? Their only screenwriting credits are for Orci's discarded ST3 script.

Kirk's dad. I thought that with Beyond we'd finally moved beyond the indulgent self-referentiality of STID. A movie based on time travel shenanigans with Kirk's dad seems a much worse idea than NuKhan.

Execution is everything, obviously, but I'm sick of mommy and daddy issues in movies. It was tired even before Freud's theories were discredited. It's a lazy writing crutch most of the time.

I just think it's remarkable that trekkies can simultaneously be hyping themselves up into massive excitement about a movie that opens in a couple of days and, based upon a first press release containing a sentence-long premise statement, already be forming opinions and/or getting upset about one that won't be finished for a couple of years

Okay, "remarkable" isn't the word - there's not a thing unusual or unexpected here. It is, however, really really funny.

While they're Orci's writers, Orci isn't involved, and they've had time to re-write it. So it will probably turn out different.

Better not be that hore crap script that Paramount torpedoed refurbished!!!

sorry DON'T want JJ doing anything more than he did on this one period.

Zero reason Pegg n Jung should NOT be writting 4 too. JJ is a SW dude craps sake the Klingon "Warbirds" sounded like tie fighters in STID

Hope paramount tells him as much
