Breaking Bad - Season 4

Skylar doesn't wonder whether Gail's death is connected to Walt, even as the drunken fool explains to Hank that Gail was just a student who failed the exam? Possible I suppose.

Boxcutter boy gets sensitive and subtle enough to con Jesse as a way to remove Walt's "muscle?" That's a stretch. It would be so much simpler to hot shot Jesse.

Lately I've been rethinking how the show might end. Maybe it'll end with Walt getting away with everything and living the life of a big-time drug lord. Maybe he won't get found out afterall. It's a possibility. Somehow I don't see Walt rising to the top only to be brought down soon after.

Two things are for sure. One, as Vince Gilligan and others have often said, the series is about how Walter White transforms from a high school chemistry teacher into Scarface. Two, as Bryan Cranston recently reiterated in an interview, after two years of time on the show (the end of the fourth season will apparently mark the end of one year), Walt will either be dead from lung cancer or from something else that has come first.

In other words, he might not be found out in the end, but he won't have the chance to live it up as a big drug lord, a high school teacher, or any other capacity.

I knew Walt and Skylar were going to get back together. I just knew it. I think next week's episode is going to be when Skylar gets a bigger insight into how dangerous of a man her husband is and the life he leads.

Interesting read. I thought his cancer was gone. If I had to choose between that or his involvement in drugs as a cause of death, I'd go with the drugs of course. This show isn't about cancer afterall. I said what I said earlier because the season and a half that we have left doesn't seem like enough time for Walt to rise to the top and really be there for any meaningful length of time. That could be the point though... In this line of work, you can get snuffed out at any time. Guess this means we're back to this prophetic clip...

Well, remember, there are 8 episodes left this season plus an additional 16 episodes, for a total of 24. That's 4 episodes more than the first two seasons combined, and think about how much ground was covered there.

I see Walter rising to the top by the end of this season or at some early point next season before suffering a tragic downfall of some kind.

Doesn't Walter still have cancer? If so, that will kill him in the end. If he's been cured, he'll probably get hit by a bus in the final episode. :D

I have this image of Walter's death which I have been carrying in my head for some time: Walter is walking out of his house on his way to his car so he can drive to work or something. Then he hears someone coming up from behind him. Walter turns around and it's Marie. Walter wonders why she is here and that's when a stone-faced Marie takes out a loaded gun from her purse and shoots Walt twice in the chest. Marie says, "That's for Hank" and calmly walks away. By this point, Marie would know about Walt being a drug dealer and his indirect role in Hank's shooting. Marie being the one to take out Walt would be very unexpected to the viewers but the context of it would make sense. In the end, the consequences of Walt's actions would once again bite him in the ass.

As Bryan Cranston indicated in the link above, Walter won't be "cured." His cancer is in remission, it hasn't gone away.

Walt is not stupid. He just lets himself do stupid shit, & that's why I think that once he stops himself from this endless amount of stupid behavior of late. Things are going to change in a big way

This new development with Jesse, which might just be placating him so he's less of a loose cannon, is only serving to further infuriate Walt, & let's face it, this show is really about Walt's fury. He started this to provide for his family, but really he's angry he got screwed out of his corporate deal, & he resents his family, & ultimately he did this because he wants it, & he wants it to be all his

Walt is breaking bad. He is being consumed by all the badness within him, & his ultimate goal is to get what he wants, which more than anything else, is to not be a worthless shit of a man who gets walked on by everyone. Gus knows this. I imagine his cancer will return, & if it does, he will be hell on wheels, and the clock will start running down for him & anyone around him

Loved this week's episode - all shows that do musical montages (usually horribly) should watch this show and see how it's done.

I agree, the cancer must come back into the picture now that there's an end date for the series. However, I wouldn't place any bets on it being the cancer that kills him (with the caveat that, in the larger sense, the cancer has already killed him.):D

Agreed. This show does those little touches very well.

I hope the cancer doesn't come back. I don't see what purpose it could serve and it seemed rather pointless to begin with. Walt "breaking bad" because he was sick of his boring life was more than enough of a springboard for everything that's going on. And as I said, this show is about a guy getting in over his head in the drug trade. I wouldn't want to see him done in by cancer.

I just spent the last month watching this show. I had heard its name thrown about a few times but never paid much attention to it until I was reading a thread on another forum about overrated shows and it was filled with comments saying that Breaking Bad shouldn't be included in the poll as it couldn't be overrated. Then I found out that Bryan Cranston was the lead actor and he won three consecutive Emmys and it intrigued me. I couldn't imagine the dad from Malcolm in the Middle being in a dramatic role, much less winning awards for it, and it piqued my interest enough to check out the first season.

Wow.

I'm still on an emotional high from watching the show on a daily basis, so it's possible that my opinion will settle down, but right now I would place it as my favourite of the cable-based crime shows like The Sopranos or The Wire. Not only are the characters more relatable, the plots are more dynamic. It has been one hell of a ride so far, and I'm a little upset that I'm going to have to slow down and watch it weekly now. :scream:

Season 4 has been a little slow so far, but I'm enjoying it and the extra focus it's giving to the characters. I hope they don't string out the Walt V Gus situation too long because the show seems to work best when they switch the source of conflict between various characters, but I'm fairly confident that this show will throw up many surprises and new sources of conflict before this season is up.

Now that Dexter seems to be slipping, and The Walking Dead has yet to really prove itself...yeah, it may be the best on TV right now.

Since Gus appears to be doing to Walt (separating him from Jesse) what Walt tried to do to Gus (separating him from Mike), I'm wondering if Mike told Gus about his little meeting with Walt at the bar. Further, if Mike didn't tell Gus about the meeting, that might tell us something about where Mike really is on the issue of Gus.

Great episode. Loved the montage, especially when Jesse started scratching himself (aka, "diggin' in his ass").

Great news about the show getting 16 more episodes. We should get the best possible ending now.
