Breakfast Foods and Coffee Thread

Is marmite the same as vegemite? My uncle used to eat toast with marmite and butter back in the day... it wasn't bad actually.

And, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I just took my first sip of coffee for the day. :luvlove: Happy Monday all. ;)

If there's no semi-skimmed or skimmed milk available, I'll drink it black. Can't stand any artificial creamers.

They are all ... yummy... yeast extracts!! Come on doesn't that just sound sooooo good!

I've been drinking my coffee black since I was 12. So 26 years.

No sugar or sweeteners either. Straight black.

Like I used to drink it white and sugared. Now it's black all the way. It's like alcohol for me. Those ghastly Spumante bubbly wines were okay when I was eighteen not now. Too sweet. Rum and Coke? No thank you. Vodka and orange? Okay.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of sugary alcoholic drinks at all. Matter of fact I don't like sugary stuff for breakfast either, which is prob why I liked the Marmite. ;)

All basically the same - yeast extract - and very savoury, but the different ones have distinct and separate flavours.

I adore Marmite, but Vegemite has an odd aftertaste that I dislike.
Thanks man... I'll keep that Vegemite aftertaste in mind if I ever have the chance to try any. So far I've only had the opportunity to sample Marmite.

I'm more of a tea drinker, but I do love coffee when I have it. It must always have milk... either whole or 2%. No cream. No weirdly made fat-free creamers. Skim or 1% is too thin. It's only if I'm having a seriously rich+dark coffee that I'll opt for cream if available. I don't trust those powdered coffee additives (except for a little sugar). They've got chemicals in them that concern me. I don't trust the FDA to give sufficient safeguards...

From all I've been reading, I'm convinced that tea is generally more healthy for you. I find that when I drink very black tea brewed strong, the caffeine I get from it is different than coffee. It's effective, but without any jitters. Two cups of very strong coffee or about 4 cups of regular coffee within the span of a few hours will put me on edge, jittery and such.

Speaking of coffee chains,my local Donut King has something in thier advertising called 'Royal Bean'. if I'm flush with funds, I get a regular cappuccino, extra shot, three sugars. Best chain coffee anywhere.

(Is that with the free cinnamon donuts??)
