Breakfast Foods and Coffee Thread

Coffee, black. If it's too strong, a splash of water.

I tend to think lattes and all that is just coffee for people who don't like coffee. Starbuck's has built an empire on it, the capitalist bastards. :techman:

Someone at my work had an extra K-Cup machine/maker (some people have two of these at home?!) and they left it in the break room. Needless to say I now know that I am not a fan of K-Cup coffee. I just tried the least offensive looking option (plain Italian Espresso) and it was weak and ineffectual. :ack: Had to go get an actual cup of coffee from the cafeteria to augment.
That must be my joe-snobbery shining through...

Light cream or half and half if light cream isn't available.
When I was younger, I only used (whole) milk but since I started using cream, I can't drink coffee with milk anymore. I don't like the taste.

I can drink coffee with no sweetener and enjoy it, as long as it has cream in it. I can't drink black coffee.

I don't like anything in my coffee. Any sweet requirement is filled by a nice dessert or pastry, with black coffee as a necessary compliment. I brew at home every morning and take to work via my wondrous Zojirushi vacuum bottle. Which I actually have to cool down with ice water before filling with coffee, otherwise it takes too long to cool enough to drink!

Ei! wie schmeckt der Coffee süße,
Lieblicher als tausend Küsse,
Milder als Muskatenwein.
Coffee, Coffee muss ich haben,
Und wenn jemand mich will laben,
Ach, so schenkt mir Coffee ein!
Liesgen's opening aria, from the Bach "Coffee Cantata."
(Under the circumstances, "Liesgen" would be a great name for a pet civet!)

White or black. Mostly black these days. Used to enjoy a latte until I found out about the 170 spoons of sugar they put in them.

Sugar is evil.

Not brown or green? Green mint coffee - yum!

Sugar is fantastic.

I love hot cross buns. But I had to look up what vegemite was. Let's just say that even if it was available here... I wouldn't exactly be rushing out to try it! ;)
It's beyond salty with a slight quinine after taste. (Tempting right??)

I do like it though, however for regular hot cross buns fruity and spice is the way to go.

I don't blame you, (though I did know what Vegemite is) the closest equivalent in the UK would be Marmite which I have tried and didn't like.

Cheesy vegemite is not as strongly salty as full tilt vegemite. But a thin scrape of vegemite on toast is really good. Though I myself these days prefer promite.
