Brandon Routh leaving Superman?

How about Ryan Reynolds for Superman? And Flash. And Hawkman. And Ant-Man. And Aquaman. And Sub-Mariner.

He can play both leads in Superman vs. Deadpool.

By stressing Superman's alienation and isolation Singer actually pushed Superman more into the realm of being godlike - albeit a highly fallible "god" - and further distanced from humanity than any previous screen incarnation. It's an interesting take on the character, and an artistically valid one, but it's just not what most moviegoers want to see in a Superman film in my opinion.

That's exactly what I took from it, and I found I enjoyed it. Kal-El as Superman.

I think that would be funny, like the scene in the movie "Being John Malkovitch" where everyone had Malkovitch's face.

As for Superman Returns, Singer missed a great opportunity. Superman could have returned to Earth and since he wasn't around to testify against Luthor he was set free. Following the comics Luthor ran for and became President by the time Superman returns to Earth. Behind the scenes Luthor could be working with Braniac or Mettallo and Superman defeats them and Luthor is kicked out of office.

As for Brandon Routh, by the time the next movie is made he will be able to play a older Superman. If the Shuster and Seigel estates agree to a movie being made once the rights to Superman go back to them in 2013.

I can't say I have any strong feelings one way or another about Routh as Superman. However, if they do decide to cast a new Superman I hope they pick someone who is a little more rugged and less of a pretty boy. I want someone who looks like they can take a punch.

Yeah, and I'm also in favour of casting older. Before Routh was cast, it had been reported that James Caviesel wanted the role, and I think he would have been great for the part. I don't care that he already played Jesus. I don't think people would be unable to buy him as Superman, just because of that. I think he had the right look to play Superman and the acting chops as well.

Meh, Superman, Jesus, same thing, different rags. ;)
