IOW, the fans don't like the creator's intent so they insist it ain't so.
The director's cut of Blade Runner makes Deckerd's replicant nature pretty explicit. There can't be any sensible argument against it.

"Future Guy" wasn't Captain Archer. It was Scott Bakula trying to undue a bad career choice. 
It was Spock, the Romulan traitor who sold out and destroyed his and GR's universe. The fact that he saw the Medusan and other things is more than enough proof that he's crazy, and greedy.

A Romulan Daniels was also another good choice as if he was trying to ethnically purify himself by changing his past. He had his ears bobbed is all. But an evil alternate future Spock explains it pretty well. All too well.

I think it would have been interesting if Future Guy was mirror universe Archer, but since he was poisoned, that couldn't have happened.
But should Archer Prime have turned out to be Future Guy? I don't know that could be answered. We didn't see how it would have been written, or if done in a creative and interesting way.

Maybe archer is resurrected some how in the mirror universe and finds a way to become future guy? I like that idea!
Well if future guy was to be Archer, I think Mirror Archer would have been the way to go personally, because he definitely had an inferiority complex, when he compared himself to Archer Prime's life. Something like that could help explain why Mirror Archer would want to become Future Guy and to destroy Archer Prime, prevent him from succeeding in bringing the UFP together, becoming an admiral, and later president of the UFP.
It sure would make Archer a gazillion times more interesting.
I never minded archer to me he was the "cave man" captain. and had alot of personal issues
