Boycott Wolverine to help Trek?

Oh, ok. For some reason, I didn't catch that we drifted from X-Men to Star Trek... it didn't help that I saw that Wal-Mart has all three X-Men movies in a box set for $10-13.

Boycotts do nothing, especially when they're meaningless.

If you really want to do this, what you can do is wait until Star Trek comes out, buy a ticket to Star Trek and sneak into Wolverine.

Is it possible to just sneak into a theatre and watch it for free.I would suggest in that case a black bin bag would help to keep you disguised.

By watching wolvervine and watching trek twice you could help trek.or better dont watch trek in the first week.weatch it in the second week to give the sag a lift

Okay everyone, thanks for responding to my topic; you've helped me decide.

I am convinced enough to believe Wolverine probably isn't worth it anyway so I am going to skip it altogether at the theater and throw as many of my dollars at Trek as I can.

To begin with, I just used my Wolverine budget to buy the TPB of Countdown, even though I already had the 4 issues. The extra is going to be a gift to someone. Now if I could only decide which to give away and which to keep... Thoughts on that?

Never been an X-Men fan, so I won't be seeing Wolverine in the theaters. So my decision has nothing to do with my support of Trek's box office earnings.

What an awful, awful movie Wolverine was. Yes, I knew what I was getting into when I paid for the ticket to see the movie. But it wasn't just dull and hammy. It was insulting.

And I don't know HOW they managed it, but for the first time they've managed to make Wolverine's claws actually look like they were CGI'd in. They must have CGI'd them in previous outings, but now they actually look glaringly like the part.

Wolverine made an estimated 35 million last night and is tracking for a 90 million opening weekend.

MSNBC just ran a segment talking about the summer movie season. Most of it was about Trek. :D

Looks like Wolverine will fail to make $200 million then probably $175-$190.

I dunno. If they had a couple of weeks to themselves, then I think they'd hit 200-250. But Trek is going to take ALOT away from them. I think for Wolfie to cross 200 box they'd need to take in 100 this weekend.

Even on it's own, Wolverine was never going to make much more than twice its opening weekend domestically. Star Trek only means that, if people see it as a better-reviewed alternative next weekend, Wolverine will probably do more business during these three days than it does during the rest of its run, rather than doing slightly more after these three days.

I would never think of skipping Wolverine to make sure its numbers are low against Star Treks. I will see the movie eventually, just did not have the chance to see it this weekend.

For what its worth Wolverine appears/seems to be a bit lower than some of the first predictions....Box Office Prophets has predicted a 75 million dollar opening, which is about 15 million lower than their mid-week estimate.

Not sure if this is good or bad for Trek.

Wolverine simply doesn't interest me. I'll probably end up watching it on DVD when my hubby rents it. On the other hand, I already have tickets for ST for both opening night with friends, and Sunday afternoon with children.

Either one would be fine... should I PM you with my address?

;)

I was going to buy the X-Men trilogy on Blu-Ray just to get the free ticket to Wolverine, but now I think I'm just going to pass and buy the trilogy during the next Deep Discount/DVD Planet sale which will save me on the $$$.

been a huge x-men fan and wolverine has been my favorite character BUT i haven't been excited enough to see this wolverine film. i'll probably see it tomorrow but it's not a priority. for me, i'm thinking of taking off Fri from work so i can see it on Thur evening (hopefully tickets aren't sold out).

Nope, already have a date and tickets for Wolverine.

Don't worry though, Trek will be available on DVD.

And just an informational side note, Wal Mart had the first three movies in a ten dollar "boxset" package today.

stupid Walmart marketing. that box should contain the first four.

I think he was talking about the first 3 X-men movies. It would have been interesting marketing if it did contain the first 4 x-men movies.
