Boy trapped in homemade balloon...

Maybe this will help.

Not really. Scrubbing just brings us back to soap. And cleaning. And towels. And Trekker wearing them out again.

Pain. As if a million voices cried out and were suddenly silenced... :(

Hooray! My thread reached Brain Soap Level!

*places fingers on Holdfast's temple "Forget".

It's working.

Wait, what's working?

And the wife admits, it was a hoax, designed to make the family more marketable to reality TV producers.

Of course the husband's attorney discounts the claim, saying, "her English isn't so great".

This smells like an attempt at a plea-deal for her to stay out of jail.

I still wonder what their (his) end-game and exit strategy was.

What did they think would happen, legally, when this all went down? Did they think the police would just look at the empty balloon, discover it didn't have the kid in it and he was hiding all-along and they would just laugh it off?

Did he really not expect the police and authorities to investigate all of this or maybe even be upset over this nonsense?

What a moron.

If this was an episode of Law & Order or CSI, the wife would have cooked up the hoax with the kids knowing that the husband would be blamed and no-one would believe his pleas of innocence.

If it was 'CSI: Miami,' it would go like this:

Frank - "What do you think, Horatio, is this for real or a hoax?"

Horatio - "Frank, I have a feeling ..."

Puts on sunglasses. Tilts head.

"... That balloon boy's bubble is about to burst."

YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

LOLOL!! What's sad is that I can actually see and hear this!

Most likely: Kid appears a few hours later and everybody is so happy he's safe that they just let it go. The kid ratting him out on camera, that was just bad luck right there.

The smart move though would have been to have the kid hiding somewhere other than the house so it look like the kid ran away.

HA!!

'Guilty plea' in balloon boy case

The US parents who triggered a major alert by claiming their six-year-old son was adrift in a helium balloon are to admit charges, their lawyer says.
Falcon Heene's mother is to admit false reporting to authorities and his father will admit attempting to influence a public servant.
Their lawyer said the couple agreed to the pleas to prevent Falcon's mother, a Japanese national, being deported.
Falcon's disappearance became a media drama, but he was later found at home.
Police accused the family of masterminding the 15 October incident as part of a publicity bid.
Officials had suggested they could have faced charges of conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Lawyer: 'Balloon boy' parents to plead guilty to hoax-related charges

Anyone here who thought this "wasn't" a big deal should pay heed to the charges. This was a very, very big deal.

Good. And now she has something to hold over her husband's head for the rest of his life. "You almost got me deported, you asshole!"

I knew it was a hoax the second I heard they were former reality TV stars. The question... would you still watch their new reality TV show about how media-hungry these crazy parents are?

"This week on, "What I'd do to get on TV!" -- what happens when Falcon plays with the garbage disposal? Tune in next week, only on FOX!"

I think the mother should be deported, the dad go to jail for 12+ years and the children go to adoption. The so called parents should not have their children, they are getting off extremely light, and that's bullshit.

Geez, talk about overkill. Keep the parents together and sentence them to community service and learn something about being part of a community.
