Bowling

I've gone through phases of playing once every week or two, haven't played in a few months. My high game is 205. It felt so sweet to finally break 200. I think that was the last game I played other than some candlepin games on a work trip. I think my high game in candlepin is 99. Maybe I've broken 100 once.

Can anyone actually execute a good spin? When I'm getting strikes it's because I'm throwing from the far right into the 1-3 pocket, but it's a straight slant. I like throwing like this because it has good misses. Miss a little to the left, it hits the head pin moving left and I either strike or only leave 7-10, miss a little to the right, get nicely grouped leaves like 1-2-4. But it'd be cool if I could actually get that spin down.

One of my mates is very good at spins though he bowls in a really odd way. I don't think the spins are completely intentional because if they were, he'd probably get higher scores. They're interesting to watch though.

But that is League prices, I don't want to be in one anymore. Open lane bowling prices are insane. It's only bowling.

That's about $14 US. To ME, that's too much. Like I said, it's only bowling. Three games at $10 including shoes total each person sounds more fair.

After it was recovered they brought the pin for me to see. It was very old, they explained, had probably developed a hairline fracture that the ball struck just right.

Where I live the one alley has $2 a game from 11am to 5pm Monday through Friday. Another has hourly rates where you can bowl your heart out for an hour for $10 on weekdays and $12 on weekends. I can usually get six or even seven games in one hour if I'm by myself. So not quite two dollars a game on weekdays.

I went and got shoes not long after I started bowling on a regular basis, I figured might as well do that instead of paying for rental shoes (and like Tia said in Uncle Buck rent a foot disease) every time I go to the alley.

I saw at a couple differnt bowling alleys they had attached key chains to old broken pin parts.

BTW the other day I bowled 139 - a new record.

If it were $2 or $10 for an hour near me, I'd probably try practicing every lunch from work:)

We went again at Easter. I still need more practice.
