ABC has not cancelled any show yet though October Road and Men In Trees appear to be the most likely candidates for the axe. Boston Legal will get a 5th season so it can pass 100 episodes and have a nice package for re-runs, plus ABC has no need to fix the 10pm tuesday slot because at the moment, its not broken.

Just because it's not broken doesn't mean TV networks won't fuck it up.

And the 5th season will be the last, but never under estimate how stupid TV networks are.

And of course nothing is "officially" canceled yet, but it's obvious to so shows.

Boston Legal

The bad news: That cast doesn't come cheap. And they'll come even less cheap next year.
The good news: It continues to be a solid, if not spectacular, performer for ABC.
Odds of Survival: 6

Eli Stone

The good news: Following Desperate Housewives, it scored its highest ratings since its premiere. Even more importantly, ABC loves it!
The bad news: Eli needs to hang onto the extra viewers it gleaned from Desperate when it returns to its regular Thursday time slot tonight.
Odds of Survival: 7
ABC hates Boston legal and LOVES Eli Stone, I doubt they want two lawyer shows on the air.

ABC will not cancel BL over Eli Stone...

I do think BL might end after season 5 but ABC won't cancel a show after 4 seasons which still gets around 10 million in a 10pm slot. I think only Brother and Sisters is the only other ABC show that can do beat 10 million at 10pm.

ABC has never said they hate BL or has ever said anything bad about the show... ABC hating the show is just an opinion not fact.

No, because they will go out and say "We hate it!"

ABC has done nothing to indicate they hate it, you have no real evidence. ABC would not of let it gone 4 seasons if they dislked it. The Emmy's and ratings please ABC so they keep it around.

BL is set to have the highest number of episodes for any ABC original (non reality) show in this strike ruined season, so they can't hate it that much.

Eli Stone has really become a great show. I hope ABC keeps it around. [Side note: I have yet to watch the season finale (as I usually watch it online at abc.com).]

If it doesn't get picked up it ended well.

That's good to hear. I look forward to watching the season finale when it finds its way onto abc.com. Everything was really coming together for that show.

Exactly.

ABC hasn't exactly treated the show well over the years -- holding over episodes to season two is one example, and pre-empting the show for random news specials is another -- but ABC gets a fantastic demographic with Boston Legal. The average BL viewer has an income in the six figures. I believe it is the richest skewing show on network television today, and there's an ad demographic that they can capture with BL that no other show can get. That's a solid reason for renewal.

I almost expected the final terrace scene to be completely silent, which to me, would have been much more powerful. Do it with looks, pauses, almost speaking, and a nod and fade to black. I still think that's how Kelley will do one someday.

That'll probably the final scene for the series finale.

Boston Legal will go out with a classic line from Denny but the 1 from last episode should end that way IMO.

I've been doing some research about BL and there appears to be 1 person in ABC who may have it in for the show but at the moment everyone else who make the final say are saying that ABC wants to keep the show.

I'll try and find some more on it.

I also just read that when ABC announced some of there early pickups, that Bil Shanter was told that BL has not been cancelled and some sort of 5th season will be picked up.

Holy Crap. I've been watching a show that's WAY out of my pay grade.

I know lots of people who watch it and none of them make $100,000. All I can think of is in Boston $100,000 is nothing and everyone there is watching it. :)

I still don't trust them, if that was the case they would have renewed it months ago like they did several other shows.

What shows did ABC renew months ago?

Either that, or Alan will be alone on the terrace.

Hmmm ... wonder if Denny will finally jump?
