When I was a kid, we were too poor for me to buy a lot of books-- I had to save my lunch money and go hungry just to buy comics-- so I borrowed a huge number of books from the library. Usually this one:
I would love to live in that building.
These days I buy all my books-- more than I have time to read-- and subscribe to about a hundred magazines. My apartment is an Old Curiosity Shop of books piled everywhere. In the next couple of years I must buy a house, just so I'll have room for my books.

Well said. The library is one of the most beautiful products of our society. I know that sounds cheesy, but think about it, really think about it: It is in action and as a symbol the very best we as a society have to offer. It is the idea that knowledge and truth are things that everyone deserves and to which all should have equal access. The library is proof of our freedom. Seriously. The literate and learned have the power, and as so long as literature and learning are made available to the public the public remains free.
