Born of Hope: LOTR Prequel

A British actress named Kate Madison made a wonderful film about the parents of Lord of the Rings hero Aragorn called "Born of Hope". In just about 2 years it's drawn nearly 6 million hits on You Tube. I've written a story about it that includes a link to the movie. If you're intrigued click here.

Fair warning: have a box of Kleenex ready...you're going to need them.

I saw Born of Hope in the video room at Farpoint (a con held in Baltimore every February) last year.

I was impressed with it. The story felt authentic to Tolkien's world (and Jackson's version of that world), and it stood well as its own thing. I also thought most of the acting was fine, especially Christopher Dane who, as Arathorn, had to carry the film.

I like Born of Hope slightly more than The Hunt for Gollum because the plot in BoH holds together better that THfG's, though I think the acting and the tone are more consistent in the latter than in the form. I know it's unlikely, but if New Line were to release these as extras on a future Lord of the Rings or Hobbit DVD release, I'd have no objections.

Kate Madison was kind enough to respond to a request for an interview and I have written an article around it which you can see here.
