Borg in Disco?

The Borg have been around since at least the 15th century, according to the Voyager episode Dragon's Teeth. There are suggestions in various Voyager episodes that they might be even older than that.

Yeah but as much as I like "Voyager", they loved shredding Borg continuity and rendering the initial encounter ("Q WHO"), which led to Borg interest in the humans, moot. (Or the Borg visited Earth in the 15th century, decided the humans weren't worth it, buggered off, and had no concept of how species adapt and grow over time...)

Just kind of a tinfoil hat not-totally-serious theory here, but this might be how they split themselves off of the "Prime Timeline". The Borg have chosen to launch another First Contact-style temporal attack on the Federation, and have chosen the late 2250's because at this point the Federation is still licking their wounds from the Klingon war. Those red thingys in the Disco trailer are temporal wormholes from the late 2380's, and the Borg are planning to launch an attack. And since this didn't happen in the original timeline, Disco retroactively becomes an alternate universe. ;)

The comms burst sent by the assimilated Arctic One in Enterprise wouldn't reach the Delta Quadrant for them to send ships until the 2350's or so, and we see them arrive in 2365.

By Discoverys era, the communication is still on it's way.

Pfft. It is just a line in an episode, easy enough to throw it away if they want the Borg in Discovery. ;)

It's about 5 lines and it's to help an already established prior episode but sure.

I'm just repeating the party line whenever elements of TOS are brought up that conflict with Discovery. No one seems to have a problem discarding them.
