Books surrounding Destiny trilogy

I've heard a lot about the Destiny trilogy, and the scale of this Borg conflict has me intrigued. But...I don't want to have to read like 20 other books before I get to it. But I've been made aware that there are some that I REALLY need to read through or else some things won't make sense or some good events might be spoiled.

So basically, what books are essential to the understanding or flow of the storyline or key events before the Destiny trilogy?

And I would appreciate it if spoilers were kept to a minimum.

David Mack, the author of the "Destiny" trilogy, does a good job of telling you what happened prior to the books (a few paragraphs that are kind of like, "Last time, on Star Trek..."), but your Destiny reading pleasure will be greatly enhanced if you read, at a minimum, Peter David's "Before Dishonor", then Christopher L. Bennett's "Greater Than The Sum", which will then lead directly into the "Destiny" trilogy. Following the Destiny books, you can then thoroughly enjoy Keith R.A. DeCandido's "A Singular Destiny", Bennett's "Titan:Under A Torrent Sea", and Kirsten Beyer's "Voyager:Full Circle", which detail events immediately following "Destiny" and will pretty much catch you up with current Trek Lit.

There are actually three Borg-related books before "Destiny", the aforementioned "Before Dishonor" and "Greater Than The Sum", but preceeding them was J.M. Dillard's "Resistance". Nothing against the author, but quite frankly I had to drag myself through "Resistance", and I didn't really see anything therein that wasn't pretty well covered in BD and GTTS. If I may be excused the small editorial.

RyuRoots, several other posters have asked similar questions. A quick perusal of the last six months worth of threads in Trek Lit will also provide you with good lists of what to read and in what order, to make more enjoyable recent Trek literature.

I did not read any of the books leading up to Destiny apart from Titan 1-3 and I loved the Destiny series. I had no problem reading it. pulling myself away from it was the problem!!.

Following Destiny I have read KRAD's A singluar destiny which is great, I have decided to give the other destiny follow up books - Voyager full circle & Titan OaTS a miss. maybe I will pick up TNG: Loosing the peace.

Whoops, LS, my bad. I'm still learning how to use the various functions. Edited for the first time just a few days ago, and actually used (gasp!) the MultiQuote function for the first time today! I'll work on it, though.

I remember my first time using it. Took some time to figure it out, too.

This reminds me of whatever you do on a starship, you gotta be a little programmer to find your way around, don't you?

Destiny was the first star trek book I had read in about 5 -6 years and i enjoyed it and followed the plot with out struggling it has also made me want to read the other books around it as a result
