Spoilers Book of Boba Fett [Spoiler Discussion]

I didn't use that clip because it omits Sabine's earlier comment about how heavy the blade was when she first ignited it and Kanan explaining how the blade draws energy from its wielder's thoughts and actions. Din and that Viszla chap were literally dragging it across the floor.
Oh no, I got you. I was just bummed that it cut out when it did. ;)

Yep. In fact the Hasbro figures of Stormtroopers from The Mandalorian are called Remnant Stormtroopers.

I noticed in this episode specifically, that they rounded out the darksaber hilt compared to Clone Wars and Rebels. I'm sure the hilt has been like that since Mando Season 1, I just really noticed now.

Makes sense, real people have to hold it. Gripping something with hard corners would not be comfortable.

They used that term in Mando as well I'm pretty sure.
Other than that it has been used in novels and comics as well.
I think the key difference here is that in the EU, it became the official name for the faction (which always struck me as an odd thing for a state to self identify as), as opposed to here where it's just a general catch-all description for ex-Imperial hold-outs and renegades.

Yeah, they did the same thing with Bo Katan et al's Westar 35s; the animated versions are characteristically blocky, sharp edged, and impossible for a real person to hold comfortably.

Which is all fine of course. Neither TCW or Rebels were ever attempting to be photoreal; both were very highly stylised, so naturally they'd need to be interpreted rather than just straight up copied.

ETA: It's actually quite an interesting design challenge since usually the interpretation goes in the opposite direction; simplified and exaggerating a real world object or character design into something that reads the same in only the broad strokes. Taking something that's been designed as a stylized object and translating it into an object that both registers as real (as opposed to a Roger Rabbit prop) and recognisable is not done as often.
It was easier with The Ghost and the Resistance ships since that's mostly a matter of elaborating details and swapping out textures & shaders. Building and designing an actual prop is a whole other ball game.

According to the audio description for the episode, the ring world is an open loop, and that’s what creates the day and night cycle.

I guess that’s what we’re seeing at 6:25. I assumed it was Larry Niven style with sun blockers, but I guess not.

I really don't see how that could work since if the star is in the middle, and open loop won't do crap since any shadows are case *outwards*.

It's not even supported by the visuals which had several alternating day zones (at least 3 by my count), like you'd expect from a mirror array. So even if the structure wasn't encompassing the star, it would still need at least three breaks to achieve the effect that we saw.

But even then, we see the sun facing side of whatever is casing said shadows and it appears to be basically smooth, not the mass of gantries and infrastructure machinery that we explicitly see is the outer surface of the ring.

Clearly someone has their wires crossed here.

We don’t see the ring go around the star

I’m guessing it’s a half solid ring, with the other half split into segments to create those shadows.

Its not big enough to be a complete ring world, those are like a million mile wide 1 AU diameter massive thing. At the close focus of a few blocks, it would just be a massive flat plane.
That is actually smaller than a halo from.. well Halo..
This one was maybe a mile, few blocks wide, and could see the curve quite well. So maybe, 10,000 mile wide? So thinking an artificial star, or like halo its canted towards a star.

An episode without the title character of the show? Interesting. I guess it was nice catching up with Mando. I kind of scratched my head that the armorer declared him "no longer Mandalorian" and kicked him out, but let him keep the symbol of legitimate Mandalorian rulership. Maybe she has faith that he will somehow atone and make his way back.

Cool starfighter. I thought the modded end result was a nice change from the original yellow. And... wizard?! This show sure has a way of scratching a prequel trilogy nostalgia itch I didn't know I had.

I saw that ring-station and I immediately thought it was some variation of Niven's Ringworld concept, though obviously the scale was much smaller. I'm not familiar with these video games that keep getting mentioned, although I am of that generation.

Yeah we do. There's a shot of it disappearing into nothing, with the star's halo (no pun intended) clearly showing in front, which is what a complete dyson ring would look like.

What we don't see *at all* is this supposed break or breaks in the ring, or indeed an overview of the ring at all, which would totally be possible if it were a small, non-encompassing ring with at least three giant gaps in it, not so much if it were even a small encompassing ring since at that width, if you went far enough out to see the whole thing it'd barely register as a line segment.

As I already said; you can get neutron stars smaller than Luna, and the goldilocks zone if fairly close in. Also, if you have the ability make "artificial stars" then you wouldn't need to be building ring stations.

She could do nothing. A challenge was made for th Dark Saber, but Din won said challenge. Remember, if someone gets/leads the Mandalorians with the Dark Sabre, but the person doing so didn't win it BY combat, its the end of the Mandalorians by the Prophecy, so no, she not going to be the Mandalorian to set that Prophecy in motion. There's also the fact that Din asked her specifically if there is a way for him to atone for the 'sin' of removing his helmet in view of others - so she is acutely aware that Din desires to redeem himself and become a 'true' Mandalorian again.

(And we know he'll ultimately do that because neither the episode, or the series following him is called: The Former Mandalorian) ;)

You can be a Mandalorian without being part of Din's weird fringe cult.
But in their eyes, not a 'real/true' Mandalorian - just a MINO. ;) (And because he feels the need to be redeemed Din may not consider himself a true Mandalorian at this point in his story.)

by blocking sunlight?

Maybe I don't have an good idea how this thing is shaped and where it is in relation to the star, but breaks in the ring would let light through not block it out. Is this structure encircling a star or not?
