With fetter meaning to shackle it seems fitting that Fett's ship was Slave I. Even if it wasn't deemed offensive now it makes sense with the character's journey this series that he might want to name it something else. I was trying to think what they might rename it, something like Tusken Wrath or what not but it seems Firespray is it.

It's not called the Firespray. Fett referred to it as "my Firespray gunship." If that were its name, he would have said something like "my gunship, the Firespray," or simply "the Firespray." Firespray is just the name of its class.

It is possible that Firespray is just a placeholder until they reveal a new name for it in this show. I think the name “Slave I” has been removed from the Disney canon though. Unless it was referred as that in AoTC. I don’t remember

It is still called that in The Clone Wars. Pretty much the only time its been named on screen.

Are some folks really finding the name 'Slave I' offensive?

It's not like Fett is a nice or virtuous person. Makes sense he'd have a nasty name for his ship.

A dark jedi or a gray jedi is as much a Jedi as a dwarf planet is a planet, a guinea pig is a pig, a Welsh rabbit is a rabbit, or vegan cheese is cheese. The fact that the term is, indeed, wrong does not preclude from people using it in-universe.

As an example, Ahsoka is not Jedi, but is referred to as such, does not even bother correcting people about it any more. The Jedi trademark appears in danger of being genericized with the Jedi order being reduced to ash and all.

It's even questionable if the extinct former order has approved of Yoda, Obi-Wan and -- possibly Qui-Gon -- approving a Luke-lead reboot. Semantically, Jedi Luke Skywalker could be member of a different order. Not in reality as they would all approve of Luke (he's too old, though), and Yoda has been in the council longer than anyone in the council to be allowed to speak for all of it, but certain ambiguity regarding the term applied on Luke certainly exists. Enough to justify us forgetting Ahsoka's non-membership in the order, too.

With Rey being the only extant Force user¹ eligible to lead a Jedi order once she becomes one herself (she's too young, though), the term is in serious danger of becoming further diluted, too.

How does that deal with people who sit on the councils but are not masters, are they allowed to bless a reboot of the order lead by Rey? So much complications!

¹ Nah, I'm not forgetting the broom kid.

Much better episode than last weeks. I am assuming the writers wanted to remove the sarlacc from the equation. Now Twitterverse will not be screaming "Why doesn't Boba use the Sarlacc Pit!"

Who will be the new muscle? Will Djarin and Bo-Katan show up to help? I would love to see Mayfeld be hired on!

I am thinking that Din's old entire crew may move into Boba's place now.

Even though SW has always been geared towards kids, they seem to trying to do that more so with this show. Seems like they are trying to get the 4-5 year old audience.

I mean Lucas did explicitly base Palpatine on Nixon, so . . .
    Why break the pattern now?
Now now, let's not bring grammar and objective reality into this when we have a false narrative to maintain!

But yes, that's the basic idea. I mean substitute Fett with Han or Hera and their respective ships for that exchange and you wouldn't hear them wording it: "My Millennium Falcon light freighter" or "My Ghost light freighter". But if they said: "My YT 1300 light freighter" or "my VCX-100 light freighter", then suddenly the statement makes sense.
No, it's more a case of Disney and/or the toy companies don't think it's wise to plaster that word all over the lego aisle, so they're just dancing around it instead of actually changing it. And in fairness it's probably a wise move.
100% False equivalence. "Jedi" is a religious theology, not a zoological classification. When someone leaves the Catholic church for example, we don't suddenly start calling them "Grey Catholics", do we? That'd be dumb. Apostate, or atheist perhaps. But mostly, they're just people who used to be a part of an organization/belief system, and now they're not.

    Same difference.

People call non-Amish people with “amish” all the time, because of superficial similarities in clothing or customs, and there's Christian atheism to deal with. Force use will inevitably get people labelled Jedi. I'm sure Motti almost tried to call Vader that.

    Nope. Different difference.
You're talking about cultural shorthand based on stereotypes, and again, it's not applicable. The argument isn't what ignorant outside observers may or may not call non-Jedi force users, or former Jedi. It's what they should objectively be called (if anything), and either way Grey/Dark Jedi isn't it.

... that's possibly the worst example you could've picked. Though I don't think anyone would object to calling Ahsoka a "lapsed Jedi." Kylo Ren was "raised Jedi." Kanen is a "cafeteria Jedi," what with his ignoring the Order's orders on romantic relationships.

    They might object.

Again, as I literally just said, we're not talking about ignorant subjective in-universe labels, we're talking about accepted terminology for a certain type of character. And the example stands.

I am a bit obsessed about the Mods and whose idea that was. With the British scooter gang influence, the 80s/90s vibe, having Thundercat play the "doctor" this week, it really seems like it must be the brainchild of someone and not the normal by committee kind of thing.

    EDIT: Found this :)

I'm a little behind... just watched chapter 3.
So that's what happened with the Tusken tribe. :( Hopefully the desert speederbike gang gets their comeuppance.
And, Danny Trejo in Star Wars. I didn't realize I had been waiting for exactly that.

So, since we can be reasonably assured that Dyn will be showing up soon; what other muscle do we suppose Boba might hire? I'm pretty sure Bo Katan etc. are off the table since they're soldiers, not mercenaries and wouldn't care to get involved in some underworld dust-up that has nothing to do with their cause.
Most of the old Krayt's Claw crew all seem like solid candidates: -
    • C-21 Highsinger seems simple enough to pull off in life action.
    • Bossk especially would be a "fun" choice, what with Santy already in the mix . . . (and they've already gone to the effort on making the live action Trandos math both the original design and the Clone Wars vocal performance.)
    • Embo is a fan (and Filloni!) favourite so that seems like a no-brainer.
    • Latts Razzi would be neat too, especially since Theelins are so rare to see (live action or otherwise) and they're supposedly long lived (Rystáll was at the Coruscant Opera house in *that* scene, and one of Jabba's dancers 25-ish years later, despite hardly seeming to age a day.)
    • Dengar would be interesting and I'm sure Pegg would be more than willing to wear the turban (I mean he wore Unkar Plutt, that that would be a decided upgrade.)
    • While I still think Aurra Sing would be great to bring back, I'd save her for stinger scene or something (if at all) since the show hasn't set up her history with Boba, and as such the uninitiated would be at a loss.
Outside of Fett's old crew: -
    • Cad Bane is probably out too for the same basic reason as Aurra.
    • I think Sugi is supposed to be retired by this point, but IIRC from the Aftermath books her niece took up the business and inherited the ship?
    • IG-88 seems like a fairly doable one given they already have the assets for IG-11 sitting around. Maybe even get Taika to voice him too, but with a way more aggro personality?
    • I guess 4-LOM & Zuckuss are also a possibility if we want to get all of Vader's OG line-up in the mix . . . but does anyone even like 4-LOM & Zuckuss? Be honest now.
    • Having Gina Torres playing a live action Ketsu would be all kinds of awesome, though I'd be surprised if she's still in the life by this point. Though who knows, maybe the New Republic has *really* shitty pension schemes for former Alliance operatives?
    • Amanaman might be an interesting choice. Mostly just a visually interesting background creature in RotJ and I don't think even the EU bothered to develop them as a character so there's plenty of potential for invention there (maybe even flip the gender to from the usually presumed male to a female as a tribute to the puppeteer that operated it?) They also developed the species a little for some of the unfinished Clone Wars episodes, so this could be an opportunity to utilise some of that work?
That's most of the known heavy hitters I can think of, and of course making up some original characters is always an option. If nothing else there's always plenty of unused concept art and character maquettes to recycle. Yeah I guess there's Valance too, but since he's currently the centre of an ongoing comic story, I doubt they'll use him.
