Bones is now an Avatar Infomercial!

This is the worst episode of the show I have ever seen, what a joke! The case is about Ponkey Kong, and the secondary story in GO WATCH AVATAR! AVATAR ISN'T JUST A MOVIE! AVATAR IS NOW YOUR GOD!!!!

Give me a fucking break, this is just sick. I think they have spent more time talking about how awesome Avatar is than the case!

They literally said that Avatar isn't a movie it is a stimulus something that will redefine the way we experience blah blah blah. My mind blocked them out after how lame it was. Three of the characters are taking turns waiting in line for tickets, that's half the cast. They watched the Avatar trailer at work and literally were drooling over it saying "I can't tell what is CGI and what isn't!" and "This is 2D, wait until we see it in 3D!", it's really bad.

Wow, that sounds really horrible. How exactly was this incorporated into the plot?

So, let me get this straight: a cop show, which is a particular form of scourge upon our society, temporarily drops it feigning at artistic integrity to promote a James Cameron movie?

I fail to see the problem. :techman:

I guess ol' Cameron still has some influence at Fox these days, eh? :guffaw:

I might find it funnier if we weren't a dozen episodes in and there has only been one great episode.

You can always watch CBS, NBC , CW :lol:, ABC, Cable or do something else else away from tv between 8-9pm. Personally this season I have chucked Family Guy and The Cleveland Show with Heroes on suspension until my will to watch again returns :shifty:

I saw the episode tonight. Joel Moore, who co-stars in Avatar, also stars in Bones, so I thought it was kind of funny and cute.

Avatar is getting enough publicity as it is, did they have to sneak it into one of my favorite shows? Totally distracting. The episode sucked anyway, though (and that beginning-EWWWW!). If they're going to do crap like this in future episodes, I'll stop watching. I'l stick with the books, which are way better anyway. :p

Sneak it in?! Sneak?! They just threw it in our faces!

I understand what's his name has a role in Avatar, so they could have been cute, but this was so over the top it's making me think about ditching the show because it's clear no one who works on the show has any respect for it.

The movie is being distributed by 20th Century Fox, and it sounds like the show got a budget boost for the cost of a shameless product placement subplot. Not a bad deal, and I suspect not enough people were turned off by it for it to matter.

Oh god this sounds hilarious. I almost wished I watched Bones now. I checked the clips here, and they're worse then even you lot let on.

Being a sci-fi geek means you don't get girls, unless you see Avatar in which case you will totally get laid while in line. This is exactly the sort of stupid plot you expect for a deordant spray, only that's actually an advertisement and at least such ads are not for a movie, while this was actually inserted into a TV show and is for a movie.

And that comic musical cue the show used? Painful, painful scoring.

Product placement? In a TV show?

Well, I never!

On that general issue, David Lynch weighs in with words of wisdom.

And even as a capitalist little scoundrel I've got to agree, I'm exceptionally leery of any product placement that isn't a wry and ironic commentary about how totally goddamn brand-named we are as a culture.

Meh, I've only just come to adore Bones in the last week (ie have started watching it and done what catching up I can via Hulu) and the product placement/fellating didn't bother me, since it gave us a nice excuse to see those three trying to hide their fanboy ways.

I don't watch the show for the cases anyway, I'd rather see the characters interact. So even the nympho geek girl in line didn't bother me, because it gave Sweets and Hodgins some good moments.

It was product replacememnt, it took over the show!

And what do they need money for? There is no over arcing storyline, no sci-fi parts, the sets are all built.

There are a lot of gay sci-fi fans.
