Bob's Burgers

Lots of hate in this thread. Did this show offend you guys on some personal level? Not quite up to the MacFarlane gold standard of entertainment?

I can't stand Family Guy anymore, but this show was actually worse than Family Guy, that's how bad it was!

So yes it did offend me, I was offended by how stupid they must thing I am. I'm offended this shit get's on Fox yet Futurama isn't. I'm offended they wasted time and money making this crap.

Your opinion wouldn't bother me nearly as much if you had actually watched the show- you already stated up-thread that you only watched a few minutes of it in between commercials for some other show. Which leads me to believe that you were pre-disposed towards not liking this show already and were simply tuning in to validate that opinion. Which paints kind of a disturbing picture of your Sunday night really.

I happen to like a lot of the talent involved in this production and though it's certainly not the best project of theirs I've seen, I didn't think it was bad. I'm kind of baffled at the nerdrage it seems to be generating and the arguments leveraged against it.

Dumber than Family Guy? Family Guy has had actual poop eating and live (not animated) fart jokes and "Conway Twitty", was this really that bad?

Here's something not dumb about it: No pop culture references! Did anyone notice that? No, I didn't think so.

There's a lot of implied outrage at the cannibalism angle as well. Whats the big deal? A rumor gets started that the burger joint situated next to the crematorium is serving human remains. That could be a Seinfeld episode.

Basically this is a dialogue based humor cartoon like their previous project Home Movies (or Dr Katz before that), either you find the improvisation between the voices actors funny or you don't. Sight gags are few and far between. Most of the humor stems from awkward situations.

I can see people not finding it funny but the amount of offense it seems to have generated I think is unjustified.

Actually, it was worse. Far worse. Easily the worst 1/2 hour of anything Fox has shown in its history.

Anymore it seems like comedies on Fox think the vast majority of people do their TV-viewing while smoking pot.

Really? What parts did you LOL at?

I didn't like this show; I didn't laugh once. But I'm curious - where was the humor supposed to be? What was the source of the humor in this show?

I laughed many times.

But then again, I am like an 8 year old boy when it comes to humor.

Some people have said they enjoyed it, but I'm still not clear on what was funny.

Which in itself is funnier than the show.

There have been times in which I laugh at something and have no clue why I laughed at it, which in turn makes me laugh more. I think it's one of those times.

Really, the show just seems like something that'd be on a lame web-based cartoon series made-up of 2-minute shorts. Or on The Cartoon Network and be, like, 10-minutes long placed between programs like Robot Chicken.

Not a full-fledged 1/2-hour cartoon on a major network.

I'm convinced that "Bob's Burgers" is the latest incarnation of "Malcolm in the Middle" and "The War at Home" -- a horrible, unfunny train wreck of a show that Fox likes to pretend is a "smash hit".

Or "Pretty much every comedy show Fox has ever done."

I said I liked it a little bit ,but I hate that American Dad has been shoved into the 7pm Blackhole slot because of it,when did it become the Meg of the MacFarlane shows?

It's not even shown in the Animation Domination ads so I would say it's dead.

I enjoyed Malcolm in the Middle.

And then the three-week hiatus ended on another show I was more interested in and I never watched MitM again. Juvenile, broad, humor. Oddly edited together. And the whole vibe of the show was just "off."

It was like if The Simpsons was in live action but also really, really, lame.

I lasted as far as:
"There is a line where entertaining because just annoying,"
"no there isn't that a myth,"

I responded: "no, it's true, and you just crossed it."

I'll be deleting it and not looking for any future episodes.

That's almost to the second the point at which I did the same thing.

Malcolm in the Middle was a decent show.

I suppose an eight-year old might think so. That is, an eight-year old saddled with a double-digit IQ. And who was drunk. And who had previously never seen any other TV shows.

First couple of seasons of Malcolm were actually clever and entertaining but like a lot of shows centered around kids it fell apart once the kids grew out of being "cute" and into "annoying."

Also, the mom went from a semi-realistic depiction of a harried woman who isn't June Cleaver to an insane harridan.

On the bright side however, MitM also gave us the first major role for Bryan Cranston and is probably the reason we have "Breaking Bad"
