Blues Brothers TV series in development

They aren't real brothers, both were orphans at the same orphanage. They became each others family.

Seems sound. Except that Carrie Fisher refers to them as brothers when she has them at gunpoint in the tunnel.

Carrie Fisher was in Blues Brothers. There is a scene where she refers to both characters as brothers.

It's entirely possible that Carrie Fisher's character simply accepted that Jake and Elwood considered each other brothers. If I had an adopted brother, I'd expect other people to simply treat him as my brother, not to make a big deal over whether we were really related or not.

The story follows brothers Jake and Elwood, who have been recently released from prison. It turns out that Elwood was actually raised in an orphanage, and so the show opens on him trying to find his real father. Aykroyd won’t reprise his old SNL role, but he’ll apparently lend his voice to the show as Jake and Elwood’s parole officer.

I’m still trying to figure out why this is happening.

The only good thing I get out of this is that if they were both in the joint, and released together, Blues Brothers 2000 doesn't exist.

Maybe they're posers only wishing they could be as cool as Jake and Elwood ;)

I wonder if they'll battle vampires in season 2 when the network demands changes because the ratings suck.

you can go to a Blues Brothers Concert, but it's really just Aykroyd and John (Now Jim) in a suit, hat, and shades.

Jim is doing this now? I didn't know he'd ever agree to that.

And Carrie Fisher's line aside, is there any proof that 'Jake' and 'Elwood' Blues are even their real names? It's been awhile since I've seen the film, but those could be just names they picked at random. We might have no idea who the characters 'really' are.

^They were in an orphanage, so yeah, who knows what the deal was.

BB is one of my top 5 all time classic movies (classic is relative), I wish they'd leave it alone. But since it will likely not resemble the original in any way creativity-wise, it can't really take away from the original.

I have some good memories of the Blues Brothers, starting with the SNL performances. Bought the records and saw the film. Even went a Halloween party as Elwood. ( My best friend was Jake). If 2000 didn't sour them, I dont think this show will either.

I actually didn't mind Blues Brothers 2000 too much. Though it is more of a musical through and through than the original film is. A bit too silly for my liking, but at least it moves along at a nice pace.

This idea gives me flashbacks to all those cheap movie-based synicated shows from back in the 90's. (War of the Worlds, Freddy's Nightmares, Friday the 13th: The Series, etc)
I never understood what the Friday the 13th show had to do with the movies.
