Blue Thunder vs. Airwolf

I amused myself once by comparing properly scaled drawings of Sidewinder and Bullpup missiles with Airwolf.

the Blue Thunder movie does get kudos for the exchange between the two cops:

i hear he checks his sanity with a stop-watch.
what do you use? a dip-stick?!

Well, the Bell 222 was way prettier than the hacked up bug-eyed Gazelle (?) they bashed Blue thunder out of.

I watched Airwolf all the way thru not too long ago. Yeah, it was rife with stupid 80s plots (another paramilitary desert slave compound!?) and bad acting, but the things they did with that beautiful helicopter were amazing - MAN those stunt pilots must have had a ball!

Completely agreed. Not only was Airwolf one very sleek, badass looking helicopter, but it actually growled when it flew! I mean come on, you can't beat that. :D

And yeah, there were some cool dogfights in that show that are still kinda thrilling to watch. My favorite was when they'd show Airwolf on screen with a much faster jet and have it actually appearing to chase after it (at least for a few seconds, lol).

Airwolf would always win purely because of their superior theme music

This is the correct, and only answer.

(Clint Eastwood in Firefox would kick both their butts though...)

Firefox Vs Airwolf Vs Blue Thunder Vs Knight Rider Vs Streethawk...

I'd pay good money to see that film...not to mention buy the soundtrack!

Anyone remember the day Airwolf went up against Redwolf? That would have been cool, except despite being the equal of AW (and with an added "laser") RW chased AW for ages but couldn't hit it, then Airwolf just turned round and shot it once and downed it! :guffaw:

Man how many Hughes 500's crashed/blew up in the 80s!

The movie Blue Thunder was better than the TV show Airwolf, but Airwolf wold win a battle between the two.

What was it, that Blue Thunder was more nose heavy than the saratoga or something like that?

I liked the movie Blue Thunder, so I'll pick it over Airwolf simply because Airwolf was stupid.

And it had Roy in it, which makes it 1000x better

I was told of a person who did not believe there was such a show as Airwolf. She thought people were kidding her until it's existence was proven.

It's funny that you should mention Firefox.

If one looks closely at both Firefox and Blue Thunder, one will definately notice alot of similarities. Especially when it comes to Airwolf.

I think what you are trying to say is Airwolf borrowed heavily from both Firefox and Blue Thunder. I don't see much similarity between Firefox and Blue Thunder however.

The fact is Blue Thunder was designed for urban pacification in the case of major public disorder bordering on insurrection.

Airwolf was designed to stand toe-to-toe with modern mach-capable jet fighters.

Both are superb in their fields, but Airwolf would have the edge in a head-to-head encounter.

It might depend on the pilots and the location, Schneider did go toe to toe with F-16s if I recall correctly?

Though that was in urban environment where they didn't have the room to manouver which put the Blue Thunder at an advantage.

The helicopter that they used for Airwolf was returned to civilian service and crashed a few years ago in Europe. Spooky. Between that and Jan Michael Vincent's troubles, Airwolf Curse, anyone?
