I am sure they choose blue for a good reason, (everything about this one so far seems has been thoroughly thought out) but I am voting, don't care either way. There is no ideal standard for this kind of thing.

I think I might have preferred it if they had gone with the red, but I'm not devastated by the blue. I think it will probably look cool.

Although it may make sense that they are blue.
Blue bussard collectors were a technological phase that starfleet ships went through even in the Prime timeline. The trend was short lived, but started right after TOS.

The enterprise refit had no red glowing bussards in the front. Only the blue on the sides.
The excelsior and the Enterprise B both had blue glowing bussards in the front.
It wasnt until around the time of the Enterprise C that red came back.

If supposedly technology has jumped ahead in this timeline and thats why the enterprise looks so similar to the original E-refit, then starfleet could have simply reached the blue-bussard phase sooner than before and may revert back to red a little sooner. The Kelvin has red bussards, so its not like theyre pretending that never happened. I think, as the rumors go, technology has just jumped ahead so the enterprise looks like an odd mix of TOS enterprise and TMP enterprise.

I was about to mention the ''ENT-B'' but you beat me to the punch.:p But you gave a better explaination then I could!

I don't care, they aren't even "bussards" or whatever, just glowing blobs on a fictional starship. The color doesn't matter and clear lines of sight or other crap people came up with don't matter.

Blue. I also like blue phaser beams. Just a personal preference for 'cooler' colours.

Clearly we get orange-ish ship phasers though.
Funny how things work that way huh?!:p And did you notice that the NU-ENT phasers fire in ''bursts'' Like they did in TWOK? & to some extent TOS!(Except those were BLUE, and these are orange-ish)

Well on TOS we got beams and proximity bursts that were all over the color spectrum. IIRC, TWOK was the only TOS film where phasers were actually fired. :)

That's why I only said, TWOK ;) By the way, do you know why that was the only (TOS) movie we got that actualy had any phaser ''fire''? I always thought it odd that they never fired phasers in ST6 in order to better find chang. Was it budget reason's?

Ive always loved the spinny ones on the TOS style Enterprise. The very first trailer seems to indicate that this new Enterprise had them, but its not a deal breaker for me either way.
