Blogging?

I was thinking about starting a blog in the near future but I am not sure about the process. Even this doesn't help...

The Five Steps to Starting a Blog:
1. Choose your preferred blogging platform.
2. Choose whether you want to self-host and a paid domain, or get a free blog.
3. Setting up a blog on your own domain (if you choose self- hosting and a custom domain)
4. Designing your blog (the fun bit!)
5. Useful resources for blogging.

It helps with the technical aspects but not the philosophical ones.

* If any of you have one, why did you start one? Do you need to be an expert on a topic?

I would like to go from blog to vlog eventual but I don't know what to say? I just have a need to express my thoughts.

Just grab yourself a free blogger account and see how you go. What you want to say etc.. Blogger has lots of attractive free backgrounds you can use, it's fun to play around with how your blog will look. Don't waste money with domain names or wordpress until you see if it's something you're really into.

If you're mainly a photo blog make a tumblr, also free. You can write stuff there too (it's relatively easy to get followers and people reading you) but the format is worse than reddit as far as text goes. Still if you just want to write the occasional paragraph and get a bit of likes and feedback it's a busy place. You can reblog other people's stuff and your blog becomes a kind of scrapbook.

I am cool with tumblr and like Twitter but it seems WordPress & Blogger are for advanced peoples. LOL.

ETA: I would like to talk about TV Shows which I can access more than movies or latest and greatest music. I like games but can't play the cool ones right now.

Blogger is SUPER easy to use. But unless you put your link out there no one will see it. The advantage of tumblr is if you reblog stuff and follow people others will follow you. It's pretty huge for fandom and any tv so if you want interaction I would go there.

For me TV might be good right now?

ETA: Some shows are getting hard to watch. I would love to talk about music but there isn't much that is good.

Are you looking for discussion or just to post your thoughts?

I suggest doing a search in blogger and tumblr respectively for whatever show or music you're thinking of posting about and seeing what is out there.

I create graphics and want to post thoughts but want to legitimately acquire IP to do this.

ETA: I have gotten responses on Twitter from some with my work.

Oh, right.

The other thing is you can have a few blogs, Blogger and tumblr don't intersect much. So you can post the same things on both and see which one takes off.

If you want people to see your stuff on tumblr you MUST tag your pics, so they come up in tumblr searches. I'm not sure how blogger works with that.

LOL, well it's just a way of letting people know where to look. I mean if I found the best ever Trek blog by accident and there were years of posts and I'd never seen a single one because there were no tags I'd be sad.

I was looking into starting a blog about some biblical stuff but as simple as my knowledge it would get lost in total BS. :(

I use blogger for my new blog.
The layout have fully customizable html.
I personalize my blog's appearance by using a third-party LCARS template

As far as content, I would suggest trying to do something that differentiates your blog from other blogs. If it's about TV shows, perhaps focus on something specific other than the plot, such as cinematography or costume design.

If you blog about something that you are just starting to learn about, perhaps make the whole thing a voyage of discovery, sharing new research that you have found, what it means to you, etc.

Oh, and become an Amazon affiliate and always include links to books or movies on Amazon that are related to your blog posts!
