Bleach - Anime Disscussion (Spoilers)

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

That was a great ending. It's interesting to note that whatever happens in this showdown. Urahara gets everyone away, yet no charges are filed against Aizen, Tousen, & Gin then they get promoted to Captain Status... I'm really looking forward to how this plays out. More than likely a combination of Aizen's "Hypnosis" ability will come into play in turning Soul Society against Urahara and Crew, but then agagin, Captain Commander has always been a dick.

I am sure the “absolute hypnosis” power will be the decisive factor here and, yes, the Captain Commander jumping to wrong conclusions would not be surprising.

Nevertheless, I keep wondering why nobody suspected Aizen until he revealed his true colours after he faked his death. Does nobody in the Seireitei have any knowledge about the identity of today`s Vizards and no contact with them? I find that surprising. Yoruichi only re-appeared pretty recently without being involved in the current Aizen developments but at the very least Urahara should have been able to warn the Soul Society. On the other hand, maybe he tried and people would not listen to him.

I wonder if Urahara`s status as being in exile on the world of the living will change soon.

I hope it won`t be long until I can watch the next episode. It should be very interesting.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Well, I thought that arc would have lasted longer. Or is there still more to it?

There's still a few things I want to know, yet. It looks like the visoreds have decided to intervene somehow in the conflict between the Captains and Aizen's gang.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Yeah, I just watched 112 and I was surprised we're already back to filler next week myself. Hopefully there's more story (if not a direct continuation to this arc) around the corner.

I do think that with the loss of Central 46 after Aizen, and the void of Captains, The Vizards have a better than average chance of getting a "Pardon" if not direct reinstatement by SS, but it would probably have to come down from on high. (Capt.Comm. or King)

I still want to know how Ichigo's Dad figures into the History of it all, but knowing Tite Kubo, that's for the next big Manga Arc.

One of the major challenges of this series will be finding a common ground between Seireitei & Heuco Mundo, Shinigami & Hollow, Vizard & Arrancar.

We know from experience that not all Hollow are bad, not all Shinigami are good, and Hollow/Shinigami Hybrids exist on both sides. What this means to the "Cycle" of Souls has yet to be explained and hopefully one day it will be addressed. (Hopefully we can get some word on the Quincys as well, and figure out just why Ichigo's friends all manifested similar though vastly different types of spiritual powers.)

Hopefully, something can be worked out peacefully before there's nothing left to fight over at all.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Contains spoilers for episode 212

I very much agree with the fansub people: Seireitei`s justice system is indeed piss-poor and although some people have learned there are too many who still believe in blind obedience, in following strict procedure with no room for flexibility, who observe and believe in limiting boundaries of class and nobility.

But I think there is more behind it than this. I have just re-watched the beginning of season 3 after I got my half season boxed set and I learned something that had slipped my mind. Kurotsuchi started conducting his experiments with Quincies after his release from prison. In order to get his hands on them he bribed other Shinigami not to help them. He then collected the bodies, revived them and did things to them described in the Manga but not the normal TV version. He did this to more than a thousand people. A lot of Shinigami must have been involved, either by actively helping or by looking the other way. I wonder, did this already start behind Urahara`s back? I am still wondering what was Urahara thinking when he got Kurotsuchi out of prison.

Not only is the problem about being too stuck in old ways of thinking and tradition as well as corruption but also a cowardly and dangerous tendency to sweep events that are embarrassing and morally wrong under the carpet, keep it quiet or get rid of it like the Maggot`s Nest, the Bount and the Modified Souls. All these points came together when Urahara and Tessai were put on trial. I am sure there were more than a few Shinigami who were not interested to even look at the possibility that Aizen was responsible in order to protect their own position. They didn`t want to answer embarrassing questions themselves and be punished. Looking at the letter of the law, Urahara and Tessai were guilty of something but it was convenient to blame them for everything with no room for excuses.

Unfortunately I am not surprised by the result of the trial. I didn`t expect Yoruichi to save them, certainly not the way it happened. I liked that scene very much and it showed again how close the friendship between Urahara and her must be. But it was very interesting to learn how powerful Kido can be and that there is not only forbidden research but that there are also forbidden powers.

I think it was a good idea to explore this part of the Soul Society`s history in this flashback but I also think it ended at the right point. It served several purposes: I certainly care more for the Vizard characters more than I did before now that I got to know some of these people and their history. To have them involved in the coming fight will add an interesting new layer to the storyline and open new ways to explore the characters on all sides.

I am really not looking forward to another Kon filler but so far these don`t last longer than one or at worst two episodes. As much as I enjoyed the flashback chapter I will also welcome it to return to Ichigo and his friends.

Hopefully the coming new season after the Kon filler will also feature Isshin Kurosaki and also explore the Quincies more including the Ishida family. If there are more Quincies somewhere other than father and son Ishida I think it is about time to at least mention them. I am hoping for another flashback chapter looking at this.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Well if it's this that you're talking about I'd be very suspicious of it if I were you:

http://www.amazon.com/Bleach-Box-Se...=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1237845430&sr=1-36

1.) It doesn't list a Region code (Region 1 would be correct for the US here)
2.) It lists "Warner Home Video" as the studio which is just plain incorrect since VIZ puts out Bleach here
3. I haven't seen it appear anywhere else at the moment.

Three strikes and it's out.. :) But then I've been burned by Amazon before for things I thought were legit that weren't so I'm paranoid.

I sent Amazon.com a message asking them to check their entry.

It is interesting that they actually listened this time and although they still only mention Japanese as the language, the description under format is now: Animated, Box Set, color, dubbed, DVD-Video, Full Screen, subtitled, NTSC

And now it lists "Viz Video" under Studio.

That looks better :)

I think I can be much more confident now to get the real legitimate thing.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Any particular thoughts on this concept (which I mentioned previously)

Just trying to bring up some discussion in the wake of a lackluster filler ep on the horizon.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Well, we know from the first season of the series that random hollows consume random dead spirits that roam the Earth after they've died. These spirits then inadvertently become hollows themselves whether they wanted to or not. I'd say this is possibly why not everyone who becomes a hollow is an evil bastard.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Uh, no, those who are eaten by Hollows do not become Hollows themselves. A Hollow can make a spirit a Hollow by ripping out the chain to their hearts though, turning them into Hollow - that doesn't stop them from being every bit as nasty as any other Hollow.

Hollows aren't evil perse, they're animals. A hollow is created by a human spirit that remains on Earth, and spooks around. Eventually the pain of seeing people you love live on with out you, and even growing old and dying and leaving you behind, is what does a spirit in. Emotions run wild, less and less care for the things in the world mount up and then chain to their hearts that keeps them trapped disappears, leaving a hole. The hole produces hunger, and they spend there time trying to fill it up with eating spirits - which of course can never be filled, so they're hungry forever.

I also wonder how hell fits into things and what's in there. Remember, when a Shinigami destroys a Hollow their blades absolve the soul of all crimes they committed as Hollows and get to move on to the spirit realm waiting to be reborn. However, it does not absolve them of crimes they comitted when they were alive, and if they were evil then, a nasty chained up gateway with demonic hands and faces on it appears, unchains itself, opens up to show glimpses of more demons, and the evil soul gets dragged inside to be punished.

Are there any Shinigami like prison guards in there? Do those souls after time served get reborn as well? Will those in there become worse enemies then Aizen and company? Lots of things are possible.

Well I recall that Rukia says it herself in the first season and we see it happen to Orihime's brother in episode 2.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Sorry, but Orihime's brother wasn't eaten; his chain was removed. If a spirit gets eaten, it gets eaten. If every spirit that got eaten then rips itself out of the hollow that ate it to become a new hollow; there'd be a LOT more Hollow around, not to mention Hollow might think about NOT eating spirits, because it can't be a picnic having your just eaten spirit rip its way out of you as a newborn Hollow.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I don`t think it is possible to have a common ground with hollows in general. Yes, there obviously are a few rare exception of the rule among the more evolved hollows but the vast majority of hollows are dangerous beasts that see human souls as food. Some of these hollows that hunt on the world of the living are certainly more intelligent than animals but they are still beasts driven by instincts.

On the other hand, I wonder if human souls are indeed food and if a hollow can exist without consuming them. This certainly applies to low level hollows. I am not sure about the Arrancar. Maybe the fact that hollows are eating human souls is even part of what preserves the balance between the different worlds and dimensions.

I think the major question is how Aizen`s manipulations will affect the balance in Hueco Mundo and the consequences for the world of the living and the Soul Society. We know that the Quincy would have destroyed that balance. I wonder if Aizen is doing something like that, either intentionally or not.

Maybe the Vizards can indeed help to build a bridge between the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo. Hopefully we will learn more about more positive inhabitants of the hollow dimension. I am not optimistic but nevertheless, I am hoping that the series will drop Nel and her slapstick gang and instead introduce one or more positive hollow characters who are actually interesting and not so annoying.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I've come to learn that Mr. Hat and Clogs is a complete Sadist when it comes to making people do embarrassing stuff.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

213...

Wow, that was absolutely awful, and there's more comming. Please god make it stop. :wtf: But at least Tatsuki got screen time again, finally. I missed her. :techman:

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I felt the same although my six-year-old daughter loved it. It made the more cringe worthy scenes more bearable.

This was certainly one of the worst Bleach fillers. Yes, I will be glad too when this is over!

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Sorry, I'm not watching these single fillers. I just can't bring myself to care about them.
They're never any good compared to the arc material, and since they don't have any lasting impact on the Anime or it's characters (save when another filler arc pops up) what's the point?

I enjoyed the Bount arc, but they stretched it, and now they keep stretching actual
episodes with filler sections. If it keeps up, it's going to get really bad.

I'll return when the good stuff starts again so I can jump back into the discussion.

Until then.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I had a look at the Wikipedia list and it seems there is the second part of the filler and then the start of season 11.

If they would have continued the soccer story, that would at least have been fun! But Kon is without any contest my least favourite element of Bleach and this was indeed dreadful.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I thought it was pretty funny, actually.

Granted, irritating if you want the next part of the actual story, but once you get past that it's just a humor piece.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Except if the comedy is not funny in any way to you, then it fails....
