Bleach - Anime Disscussion (Spoilers)

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Yeah, things are getting very interesting now. It looks like we'll be seeing some cool action. Although, at this point since we've already seen them in the current time we already have a pretty good idea what's going to happen.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

^So true. The inherent problem anytime they do a flashback is that we already know most of the outcome, so the only big deal is the progression of how it all goes down. Like you said, most of it will be obvious, but I'm still hoping for a little bit of a twist here and there.

Also, Captain Commander really needs to get that stick out of his butt. He's breeding an army of rebels if the past so far is to be taken as a map of what is yet to come.

All the Vizards, Urahara Kisuke, Tsukabishi Tessai, Shihōin Yoruichi, Kurosaki Isshin, etc.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Indeed!

Contains spoilers for episode 210

The most interesting discovery this time was for me the position Tessai had in the past. After it had been revealed that so many of the known Vizards were captains or vice-captains I started to wonder if there is more behind Urahara`s shop assistant but this was a surprise.

Now I am very curious to find out how the Shinigami like Kensei eventually became the Vizards from present day Bleach. I grew to like Hiyori a bit more. Tessai and Urahara obviously have a long history together but I wonder if that is also the case with Hiyori. Hm, and what did Hiyori mean when she said that she can`t draw her katana?

I like this episode very much. One of the main reason why I am a big fan of the series are stories like this one, showing the strong bonds of friendship between characters and how they are prepared to risk a lot to help each other.

I like flashbacks and for me it is no problem that flashbacks have some things in common with spoilers. I am one of these people who can`t be spoiled. A spoiler is nothing else to me than a teaser and this chapter is no different.

I know some of the destination, meaning first of all the Vizards, but it is the journey that makes it interesting. I feel that only now I am getting to actually know some of these people better. I was reading some of my Mangas recently and felt a difference when I read the first stories with the Vizards again. But that applies to other characters, too.

My husband and me agree here: What we really would like to see in this chapter is some background history of Isshin Kurosaki and Ryuken Ishida.

Now that there is so much more background story for these characters, it should make the coming big confrontation so much more interesting! Yes, part of it is definitely the leadership abilities (or lack of) the Captain Commander.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

^Agreed. In Flashback, the "reveal" will always the journey (or Progression) over the end result, and I'd like to see some info about 'Papa Kurosaki' myself.

Also, I'd just assumed that what Hiyori meant in saying that she couldn't draw her katanna was because she already knew that the Hollow chasing her was Kensei. The girl seems to have a strong sense of family once she considers you worthy of being her family in the first place (as evidenced by her Daughterly Attachmentment to her former Captain.) But again, that's just a guess.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Yeah that's one of the things I REALLY want to know. Where was Ishin Kurasaki durring this time and what's he doing on Earth later. At first I suspected he was exiled along with Yoriuchi and Urahara, but at this point it doesn't seem to be the case.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

The book “The Bleach Breakdown – the unofficial guide” offers a clue about Isshin Kurosaki. It says that he wears a white piece of a Thirteen Guard Company captain`s uniform around his left arm. I wonder, was he Jushiro Ukitake`s predecessor? We know from the current chapter that Ukitake has been a captain for more than 100 years which could mean that Ichigo`s Dad is indeed much older than he looks.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Hmm...that would be interesting.

There's also that bit in the Soul Society arc where Byakuya and Ukitake were commenting on how Ichigo reminds them of "that person" whom they never directly name. I am thinking it's either Kaien, who at that point was dead, or that they somehow knew Ishin Kurasaki at some point.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Neat information! {that I did not know}

Tite Kubo has done a masterful job at integrating an expansive and worthwhile history into the background of this series.

I am still finding small bits and pieces that get my attention when re-watching episodes!

The more I watch it, the more I enjoy it.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Hmm...interesting, so those 3 were all working together eh? and even back then. You know though, usually if one is going to fight somebody powerful they'd at least release their swords into Shikai form, especially the first couple of times that a regular attack had zero effect. You think somebody would have at least. Instead they all got hollofied mysteriously after only getting stabbed.

It should be very interesting to see Urahara fight seriously for once. I certainly hope he gets some type of help though see how outnumbered he is.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Contains spoilers for episode 211

I wasn`t surprised by Aizen`s revelations but nevertheless, his “absolute hypnosis” power and the ease and ruthlessness with which he is manipulating people is scary. He is definitely one of the best villains I have met in any story.

The masked guy is indeed Tosen. I expected that but now we know for sure.

I am still wondering how Aizen turned Shinigami into hollow versions of themselves. We know from the Hueco Mundo chapter that he will be much more successful in future and these people were early guinea pigs to him. I hope we will find out what he actually did. To me the transformation looked like an infection. People felt sick and the mask flowed out of the mouth, eyes and ears. That is very different from what Ichigo experienced and what we have seen from the Vizards.

The way Hirako kept resisting and fighting the hollowfication was impressive but also Hiyori showed amazing strength. Somehow Hirako and the rest of Aizen`s “samples” must have learned to become the Vizards of present day Bleach. I gained much more respect for these characters.

I am very much looking forward to the duel of Aizen and Urahara. Urahara said in the past that his powers are not suitable to train somebody to gain strength. I wonder, is it also a more abstract power as Aizen`s “absolute hypnosis”? I am very curious.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Well, it could be one reason why he's so good at hand to hand combat. Maybe he doesn't like what Benihime does..

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I noticed today that the Bleach season 3 uncut boxed set is available for pre-order. I recently bought the first two and have finished watching the first set. I noticed that this US version definitely has scenes you can`t find on the British release, something I find very interesting but also annoying because these cuts were made in the first place.

I noticed that Amazon.com is announcing that the third set is in Japanese with English subtitles. Contrary to the other two sets, there is no mentioning that the episodes are dubbed. I really hope that this is an oversight by Amazon.

I have very little experience with Anime. I would guess that all US releases are also dubbed as it is the case with British ones.

Don't they usually carry both a dub, and the original japanese with subtitles though?

Anyway, I only watch anime in Japanese with subtitles. Dubs are horrible.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

The episodes on the 3rd set have LONG ago aired on Cartoon Network here, and they were dubbed. Since the dub definitely exists there'd be no reason not to include it on the DVDs.

However, the 3rd set is not out yet nor can I find it anywhere I usually shop for pre-orders. What you've found sounds suspiciously like a bootleg, I would not buy it personally.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Hm, I had a look at Wikipedia and they announce the Bleach uncut season 3 set for July 14, the same as Amazon.com does. They also announce the season 4 set as TBA.

Therefore I am pretty sure this is indeed a legitimate release. Because there is a dubbed version I am hoping that Amazon just made a mistake. It wouldn`t be the first time that happened.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Well if it's this that you're talking about I'd be very suspicious of it if I were you:

http://www.amazon.com/Bleach-Box-Se...=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1237845430&sr=1-36

1.) It doesn't list a Region code (Region 1 would be correct for the US here)
2.) It lists "Warner Home Video" as the studio which is just plain incorrect since VIZ puts out Bleach here
3. I haven't seen it appear anywhere else at the moment.

Three strikes and it's out.. :) But then I've been burned by Amazon before for things I thought were legit that weren't so I'm paranoid.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I was out of town this week and just got back.

Watching 211 now and so far it's quite good.

Favorite Line: "You did a Level 90 Way of Binding without the incantation?... That's Badass."

I'll check back after I'm done watching.
---------------------------------------------------------

And I'm back.

That was a great ending. It's interesting to note that whatever happens in this showdown. Urahara gets everyone away, yet no charges are filed against Aizen, Tousen, & Gin then they get promoted to Captain Status... I'm really looking forward to how this plays out. More than likely a combination of Aizen's "Hypnosis" ability will come into play in turning Soul Society against Urahara and Crew, but then agagin, Captain Commander has always been a dick.

Yes, that is the one I meant.

I keep my eyes open. I noticed that Bleach sets that are definitely not legitimate copies don`t appear on Amazon UK. The first two uncut sets are listed there as US imports. If the third one is legitimate it should appear as well.

I can always cancel that order. If I am unlucky and I get a copy that is not legitimate I will definitely buy the legitimate copy, too.

Especially with Bleach, the DVD publishers can`t complain in my case. I got the two full British boxed sets, the two American uncut ones as well as the British season three half season box that just came out. I really intended to resist but I got weak and bought it instead of waiting for the full set. 3.2 and 4.1 are pre-ordered.
