At long last, Black Widow is finally coming out! Parts of Asia and Europe get to see it on Wednesday, while the rest of us will get to see it starting Thursday evening.

Will see it tomorrow. First movie in probably year and a half that I will go and see. And no idea when will get to go after this because of the way things are going with the infections spreading again due to euro football fans spreading the covid from Russia:brickwall:

Positive thing is that the prepaid tickets I have that should have expired in the end of 2020 still worked

Wow, this is actually happening isn't it?

As luck and irony would have it, the first weekend since forever to have a new movie in theatres I'm interested in is the first weekend since forever where I'll be working all weekend, so who knows when I'll be seeing this. Of course there had to be one more obstacle for me.

We'r emoving back to Albuquerque over the course of this week, so hopefully we'll be able to see it maybe Sunday. Depends on the weather. If it's really hot, I can convince the wife to go with me. lol

Well it's been a long, long time coming but in the end I'd say it was mostly worth it.

It's a shame they had to ramp it up to another Fate Of The World ending but I guess Marvel's always gonna Marvel.

The one real problem with it is that due to it's placement in the overall timeline it doesn't really work as a send-off for Scarlett Johansson. The last time we see Natasha she's just wandering off to do the stuff we've already seen her do. It is a great set-up for Florence Pugh's (hopefully) long-term future in the MCU though.

On the subject of the post-credit scene
it's a shame it was already semi-spoiled but it was good to get confirmation on the rumours of Yelena's appearing in 'Hawkeye'. And just from the way they talked to each other I got the impression that if they are setting up the Thunderbolts, Val is more a Victoria Hand-type then the person in charge. (Zemo? Ross?)

So the last film I saw in a cinema pre-pandemic was a DC female-led film and the first one I saw post-pandemic was a Marvel female-led one.

I enjoyed this, as I expected to. It was much like I expected from the trailers; sort of in the vein of The Winter Soldier, a Bourne-style spy/action movie, transplanted into the Marvel universe. ScarJo held her own, as one would expect and was surrounded by a likeable cast. Harbour in particular was a lot of fun while Florence Pugh also gave ScarJo a run for her money in the kickass stakes.

I hoped, despite myself, that the post-credit scene would give us a resurrection for Natasha, but my head knows that would’ve been a copout. But pretty clear that this will lead us into the Hawkeye show and I for one am happy to see more of Florence Pugh.

B+
Yes it´s well-made. Yes, it´s entertaining. But I´ve got an INCREDIBLE amount of "seen it all before" vibes.

Gave it a B+, enjoyed it but didn't blow me away.

Was anyone else expecting a payoff to Alexei's stories of fighting Captain America? It just seemed a recurring joke and was expecting it go somewhere.

Loved all the "poser" stuff

It kind of has a bit of bad luck in being released the same week as Loki Episode 5.

In a competition between a well-made but pretty safe action movie and balls-to-the-wall insanity I know which I prefer!

There is a new episode of Marvel Studios Legends available at Disney plus, this one focusing on Natasha. Clocking in at 11 minutes it is the longest Legends episode thus far. It covered her backstory established thus far pretty well, with the notable exception of her almost romance with Banner. Just as well, that was one of the few MCU storytelling decisions that just didn't land well with me.

Structurally, they begin recapping with the last two Avengers movies before moving back to Iron Man 2. This way, they the end of the episode right where the movie will begin.

It’s no Justice League but it was enjoyable. Taskmaster was a letdown. He didn’t give them a single wacky task to do. :)
Seriouly though. The actor they had to play Taskmaster is pretty well known and they didn’t do anything. Very wasteful I thought. The premise behind the character was also rather cliché. Their fight they had at the beginning was giving me deja vu and I couldn’t place it until I realised that very fight happened in the video game. The serum sounds very much like the anti-life equation. They better be careful he doesn’t come knocking.

I had to do the Disney Plus route as my local cinema is playing games with the times and no one I knew wanted to see it. I would have gone on my own but my stupid cinema only does times when I was working.

Not the best but I enjoyed it quite a lot. I was on set in the UK for 10 days so I enjoyed seeing how it was all put together.

I'm looking forward to seeing this movie.

But I find this whole "Premier Access" model on Disney Plus a little baffling. If for whatever reason I'm not able to see the movie in a theater on a humongous screen for $11, I'm not going to pay $30 to stream a movie that is just going to become a normal part of the Disney Plus catalog later this year. Plus, even if I spend that extra $30, the title is only available if my account is active... and I regularly deactivate my account for months at a time between seasons of shows I'm watching! So if I'm going to spend $30 on the movie, then I would rather wait a few months and spend that amount to own a physical disc that isn't tied down to a streaming account. And then there are the extra features on blu-ray. I'm not sure if those are included on Disney Plus.

I think it's geared more for families.........$30 makes no sense for a single healthy person, however.........when you have 3 kids a family night at the theater can get costly. I had something odd happen this morning. I bought it for $19.99.......but saw it advertised for $29.99 and when I signed in with a Europe IP it was 21.99 Euro........

A solid movie, not the best overall in the MCU but after Endgame that's hard to do.

The movie is a couple of years too late but it explores some of Natasha's background well enough, introducing a second family besides the Avengers. Action was very cool and for the most part quite grounded, only the final battle put it over the top MCU style.

Taskmaster was cool but a little underdeveloped, he was basically just the muscle of the main villain, i had hoped there would be more to the character than just reminding us of our favorite Avengers. The villain was unfortunately forgettable - some run of the mill "I'm evil and want to control the world" type we've seen a million times.

End Credits scene was very cool though and set up a future storyline quite well, because i really liked Florence Pugh's character ( her teasing Black Widow about the posing was awesome as well as her dark humor) and think she'd make a good successor to Scarlett.

Best part though? Finally a new MCU movie! :techman:

To be fair it's been in the can since October 2019.........#thanksCOVID

This was the first movie we've seen in theaters since Tenet, and it was worth it.
While ScarJo was good, as is the be expected, Florence Pugh and David Harbour really stole the movie.
There were some really great action scenes in this one.
Loved the relationship between the four main characters. The opening was definitely not something I expected. It was also nice to finally find out exactly what happened in Budapest.
The post credits scene was definitely an interesting set up for Hawkeye. I had forgotten that they had already said that Val was going to be in it, so it her appearance was a surprise.

Speaking of Budapest, I would have preferred if the movie was about that, to be honest.
Just occurred to me that the villain of this is basically an evil Charlie from Charlie's Angels.
