Black Panther - Pre-release Thread

I tend to have trouble spelling Forest Whitaker's name, because both his names have single letters where I'd expect double letters.

Wow, yet another fine addition to an already very talented cast. I know nothing about Black Panther, but based on the cast and director alone, I'm very excited about this film.

Angela Bassett joins the cast.

Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther.” Bassett, who currently stars in “American Horror Story,” will play Ramonda, mother of T’Challa, aka Black Panther.

Directed by Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station,” “Creed”), “Black Panther” stars Chadwick Boseman in the title role alongside Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, and Florence Kasumba. The film arrives in theaters on February 16, 2018.

Wow, this is one hell of a cast they are putting together for this one. I'm a fan of pretty almost every person that has been announced so far.

Michael Dorn as generic Wakanda/Klingon warrior who challenges Black Panther.

I can just hear the Worf like dialogue

If Black Panther isn't another solid Marvel Studios hit film it will not be because of the talent in front of the camera. I'm positive this film will have a solid screenplay and "meat" for these actors to sink their talents into!

AGREED!!!

Any word on if T'Challa's father will appear for a flashback? They had great chemistry in Civil War, and it'd be a shame if that's all we had.

Why is "Black Panther" being given a February release date? Especially after the popularity of the Black Panther character from "Cap3"? Why February? Even the April release date for "The Winter Soldier" was close to the summer season. The months of January and February are like the graveyards for movie releases.

Why is "Black Panther" being given a February release date?

Deadpool did pretty well last February. I hope LEGO Batman will do well this February.

There's so many comic book movies coming out now, it's impossible to fit them all in the summer, and they seem to do well regardless of when they release so it shouldn't matter really.

Honestly, I prefer they spread the big movies out a bit more. I've had to skip a lot of the summer movies that looked good because there are just to many coming out at the same time for me to see them all.
Looking through the 2018 release calendar on Wikipedia, I see Marvel has Infinity War in April and Ant-Man and The Wasp in July, so they're just putting two or three months between each one. It makes sense that they'd want to spread their movies out so each one can have time to breath and make as much money as possible without interference from the previous or next ones.
There's actually one or two big movies coming out each month, so it looks like we're moving away from the time when big movies only came out in the summer.
