Of course originally each series of Black Mirror was only 3 episodes long
I didn't mind this season, and quite liked that the really dark nihilism of previous seasons wasn't anywhere to be seen.
Striking Vipers was completely unexpected, and yes a little uncomfortable. Had a lot to say about how relationships may evolve in future, and the fantasy element that people get into even now online. Not the Falcon/Mantis MCU crossover event you might have expected!
Smithereens was brilliantly acted but really wasn't much more than a 3 minute "don't text and drive!" public information film stretched out to an hour. I appreciate it had something interesting to say about how much information social media accounts have on us, but again that could have been done much quicker. Also whilst BM episodes haven't always had a speculative element, this wasn't anything remotely futuristic, or even a 'tech we might have tomorrow' kinda thing.
Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too took a while to warm up but I loved it by the end. The sweary Ashley Too deserves her own spinoff series. I really didn't know where this was going originally (I genuinely thought the dad was going to integrate Ashley Too's cpu into his mouse hunter!) I thought Miley Cyrus was very good.
Not sure whether Striking Vipers or Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too was my favourite, but Smithereens was my least favourite.
This thread's remined me I still need to watch Bandersnatch!
