Spoilers Black Adam (2022) - Review

Isn’t the head of Intergang Darkseid?

In the comics, sometimes.

Earth was lost to Apocolips for thousands of years, until the three father boxes were unified in either Justice League Movie.

An argument could be made that Intergang in Black Adam, got its advanced Tech from Apocolips, but Atlantis just invaded every beach on the planet.

I took that to mean that they were coming to Earth by mother ship rather than Stargate, like what happened in season one of SG1.

I. Want. More. Stargate.

I acquired the cartoon a couple weeks back, but I just can't. Can't. It's an abomination.

I was not impressed by this movie. I found it rather flat, especially the direciton.

I enjoyed it well enough, especially Dr. Fate and Superman, but thought it was a bit toothless. I would have enjoyed seeing a much more ruthless characterization for Black Adam, though. I know he is presented as some kind of anti-hero these days, but I think the film would have been stronger if he had been portrayed as an actual Dr. Doom style villain. Come to think of it, a better ending would have been Black Adam sitting on the throne rather than destroying it.

I had to do some digging... but saw that Black Adam was originally supposed to be released July 29, 2022 (well, post-Covid shuffling).

I wonder if it would have done much better had it been an actual summer movie... and if needed, have the psychological "boost" of the 1st week in AUgust, so people might feel like it has been a month (or more) since they saw Thor, so they feel more free to spend money.

Obvously it didn't do much for Super Pets, but not sure if anyone was actaully interested in it to begin with.

Also, i wonder how many regrets people have for letting Black Adam not be the villain for Shazam (where it seems super obvious that is who was supposed to be the villain). I can see that the ROck didn't want to go through the Mummy/Scorpion King thing again.... or at least bypass the introduction part, and jump right into it. But that was a mistake.

Now, i feel like the statements have been super vague... where even though Black Adam isn't in the "next chapter" for the DCOU, i wonder if they have potential to introduce Earth 2, and that is where Black Adam could return. They made the movie vague enough that theoretically, this could be Earth 2, and they could re-work that to bring Black Adam back.

It seems clear that Black Adam would have really suited a trilogy.

Film 1 - what we got where he’s kind of noble but also a proper knob and anti-hero
Film 2 - clashes with then teams up with Superman where he learns maybe being a knob isn’t a necessity
Film 3 - he meets the Shazam family and finally Dwayne can get out his big old cheesy grin out, before saying that’s a step too far and he’s going to settle for not being a knob but he doesn’t need to be all smiles about it. Maybe.

Ultimately, Dwayne’s ego wouldn’t have allowed this anyway from the sounds of it.

The obvious villain for Shazam 2 was Mr Mind. He was in the movie and had a credits stinger.

I don’t know why everyone thinks he has a big ego. He was like one of the most giving wrestlers in WWE. He was no Hulk Hogan or Ultimate Warrior.
It is sad we will never see him beat the #### out of the Marvel family. That would have been fun

When he sat on it before destroying it, it gave me all kinds of "Chronicles of Riddick" vibes with his pose.

I don't get this either. I've never seen him be anything less than kind and polite, and I don't remember him ever being in a scandal--but I'm not a superfan either so what do I know? For me, his biggest black mark was trying to make a play for the DCU, but at least he had a vision and is a fan of the source material. Sure, BA wasn't the greatest movie, but I don't think that reflects on his character as a person.

It just feels like no one else was doing anything to move the DC movie franchise along so he stepped in and tried. I doubt he would tried to hog all of the limelight throughout it. I mean obviously Superman would have won the battle.

Disregard what you've seen or percieved--its more important for some to create a negative, especially if its connected to the DCEU in any way.

When it’s a standard, non-negotiable part of any movie contract that your character will only draw or win any action sequence featuring them, that’s 100% ego.

But having a big ego doesn’t mean they’re a bad person. It doesn’t stop someone being kind and charming or charismatic to a ridiculous degree. It just means they have a big ego.

No, it's a masterpiece with the best theme song in all of history.

That said, I watched it on YouTube. I wouldn't spend a penny on it:lol:

Dwayne comes from wrestling, and I recall drama on twitter several years ago when it came out that one of his then-contemporaties wasn't to be shown losing or in any weak state by any magazine or website reviewer in one of the WWE videogames
