Bizarre photo of couple making out during Vancouver Riots

I guess I'll be the first to post this in this topic...

"IT'S A FAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKE!"

...or is it? ;)
Looks very photoshopped to me. Either way really, this thread needs this picture

Yeah but it still seems weird to me that you wouldn't go and make sure that authorities had been called or something. It's not like there were paramedics there with her. I'd at least make sure if I was taking a picture!

Who said he didn't? He's also clearly using some sort of telephoto lens here, so who even knows how far away he was?

But this is very different from pedestrians walking past an injured person in the street. What you're essentially doing is calling journalism, photo or otherwise, into question. And the reason that journalists spend their time writing, photographing and otherwise documenting events like these instead of doing the job of the paramedics is because it is their job and if they don't people like us will never hear about these things and never understand the real impact of events. And that's important too.

I seem to recall watching a security video where maybe ten people walked past a man who was having a heart attack without helping. Some even took pics with their cellphones. That was in NYC, if I remember correctly.

While you might think he should've helped. You cannot forget that if you dont know what you are doing, you might make it worse.

I was once present at a streetrace that went bad and a lot of people got hurt, quite badly i'm afraid. One of the bystanders attempted CPR and ended up breaking the mans cracked ribs in a way that it pierced his left lung. He barely survived. Me and a few friends managed to keep him and two other seriously injured drivers alive long enough for the paramedics to arrive. That's one thing i never want to live through again. At the time i had unofficial emergency medicine training. A friend of mine who is a paramedic/field medic taught me.

While it is true that you should help if you can, but the keyword here is "can". As I said, you mess up, you might kill him/her.

I'm not talking about doing CPR himself, I'm talking about just making sure that authorities have been called and that the situation has been taken care of, that sort of thing. And I assume that he didn't because there's a quote of him saying that he didn't even realize that the couple was kissing until someone who saw the photos later pointed it out to him, so it sounds as if he never approached the couple.

Also, the authorities in the form of pretty much the entire Vancouver police force are already standing there in massive numbers. I imagine most ambulances in the city were already at the scene anyway, and the cops would have radioed for help if it ad been warranted.

He didn't realize that they were kissing, but he clearly knew they were there. He could have taken the photo, pointed it out to a nearby authority and then immediately moved on to something else. There's not enough information to assume either way, really.

She's a Canadian, he's an Aussie. To summarize, sounds like she was whacked to the ground by riot police, not hurt bad so as he was comforting her they kissed. The photo in the article looks as though it was snapped moments after the kiss.

These two are lucky they didn't get their hands caved in like the folks at G20. I do like the fact that some of the media has changed focus from the riot to this couple + the photo and as well the effort made by the citizens of Vancouver on Facebook who organized a cleanup the next day.

Fake or not, that photo would make a fascinating "Caption THIS!" :bolian:

Already beat you to it. :mallory:

"Honey, when I said I wanted to make out by the fire after the game, this isn't what I had in mind."

Great minds think alike. Greater minds steal ideas from others and make something out of them. ;)
(The greatest minds, though, use the Search facility. :o)

"Honestly, Sir, I only turned my back for a second..."

The best caption I'd read so far was....
"I hope this happened between periods!"
