Bizarre 1x07 preview...

When I saw this last night, alone in my hotel, shouted "TIME LOOP!"

I love Trek episodes that play with time. It's a cheap gimmick, I know, but I love it.

It looks to me that Mudd has a way of blowing up the ship in revenge for Lorca leaving him behind. He may be trying to take possession of the ship but also be willing to destroy it, if the crew doesn't comply with his demands.

It's definitely his arm with the phaser shooting Lorca on the bridge. In that other season trailer, Burnham says, "You're mad." He retorts that he's Mudd. And then says they only have so much time left until BOOM.

Rewatching the trailer again I noticed that Mudd in engineering is wearing the same outfit as the guy in the helmet in shuttlebay. So it is actually him.

No, it is a timeloop episode.
Really no reason it can't be both.

A time loop episode? Srsly?

I guess it's better than a mirror episode. Maybe.
Or a runaway bride.

It's weird how they started so very un-Trek in many ways and now are going back to the classic formula.

What's next?

The Discovery encounters a mischevious energy based being
The Discovery finds a planet which seems nice but has some horrible madness inducing weirdness
The Discovery encounters a planet ruled by a computer
They have to break the Prime Directive!
They realize that they're really in the early 25th century and that makes everything make sense!
Fixed that for ya.

I wish we focused on some of the other characters. Who is that one with the helmet and what is her story. Also Detmer has a 7 of 9 look going on. What’s up with that.
I thought that was explained in ep 3 that it was something to do with wounds received at the Battle of the Binary Stars?

She lost an eye and now has an artificial one. I assume the device on her head is part of that,
What is the black girls name and why haven’t we focused on her.
The ops officer or Michael Burnham? Who get an intro as " Michael Burnham the first mutineer" in almost every episode.

It seems a little early to do a time loop episode.
Why is there a checklist and time table?

The helmsman. Also I’m not asking for a checklist but maybe a progression in a first season of a serialized story.

None of those characters have gotten any development and I'm not sure they will. They seem to exist to spout dialog like "shields failing" and "message from Starfleet".

Not sure what you mean by "a progression in a first season of a serialized story". It's probably the problem of the week embedded in the larger story. It might be related to the Spore Drive, so it fits with that arc.

I liked the look of the preview for next week, a time loop would certainly explain Stamets delayed reflection in the mirror if that was the precursor to it.

I think it's possible there is no time loop, Stamets just thinks there is because of whatever is going on with the mirror. He's really being affected by the same think that's causing the other strange stuff on the ship.

If you're able to, the 'sneak peek' shown in After Trek was hilarious.
I love Stamets.

When I see the giant creature in the shuttlebay, my mind says, there should be shadows like the figure in front of it. Am I thinking right, that the creature should have its own shadow?

The shadows were backordered. That's what they get for contracting with Ikea to supply monsters.
