The first hour of this 2-part episode was on H&I on Friday night (before i posted this) and i'm a fan of this episode merely because of the DS9 crossover. I always get a kick out of that scene with Picard and Beverly walking down the DS9 Promenade. They could've grabbed a drink from Quark's bar while they were at it! Also, that was a really well-put-together scene with Data meeting Bashir in Sickbay while Bashir was in the middle of his little experiment, and Data having those visions about his "father." Nice. I still don't understand what the black hawk was supposed to represent.
Other than that here are a couple of things that bothered me about the episode:
- The crossover with DS9 should've dragged into "Birthright, Part 2". It feels strange that "Birthright" is a two-hour episode but there is no crossover in the second hour.
- It also feels strange seeing Worf on the Promenade and Replimat in this episode since he would go on to be a regular on the DS9 show. Maybe Data and Geordi would've been the better option for the Replimat scene and maybe instead of that creepy alien claiming to know Worf's father, that same creepy alien could approach Data regarding Dr. Soong or Lore or something of that sort.
- According to this episode's memory-alpha.wikia page, Terry Farrel (Jadzia's actress) was supposed to guess star on TNG for the crossover but couldn't due to filming "Move Along Home" so they had Bashir taking her place. I would've liked it better if Jadzia were in this episode instead. Not that i don't like Bashir though.
Nonetheless, nice crossover event!
