Birth of the Federation II

The greatly expanded list of minor races, combined with the new diplomacy and Intelligence features. Starship use was mainly exploration for me.

I like the idea of science ships actually doing research too.

There are so many things in this game, which are interesting. First, the resources are going to be interesting, as you just can't build a ship. You'll need officers, deuterium and raw materials to build a ship. Second, having different types of stations. And being able move people from planet to planet. So many things.

I am really looking forward to this game! I really liked BOTF, my friends and I usually play it when we network computers (allthough had trouble the last couple of times). Anyway how will one go about getting the new game? Will it be downloadable that can be burnt direct to a disc or how will it be done?

Looks great, waiting to download! :)

I hope that there can be battles like in Sacrifice of Angels. I managed that once in a multiplayer game. I had 50 Galors. Any more than that and the game crashed.

I've been playing the new mod with the Breen and I've found that the Bajorans are very hard to subjugate early on. They get loads of orbital mines the moment my peace loving Cardies build their cruisers. I just hope in BOTF2 the Bajorans are the pushovers they should be so I can kill thousands daily.

Are you actually a Trekkie?

Love and peace? Exploration is a goal in itself and all?

;) :D

I wouldn't be surprised if this was delaying a bit, possibly more than a bit.

I'm not expecting it any time soon, I'm afraid.

^ There'd be a bit of a 'Sim City' element to a game like that though. Sure it's be interesting at first, but it would become quite repetetive after a while...

Interesting...I'm hoping the lack of online time means he's work hard on the game. I'm just hoping this doesn't fall through like other ambitious projects.

No. I demand Xenocide.

Apparently the developer hasn't been seen online for a few weeks. Not a great sign...
he posted in the forums yesterday or the day before... it was pretty recently anyways...

Not necessarily. As a coder myself, there are times when I'm close to a breakthrough or in the middle of a long fast run, I sequester myself away for several hours or even days to finish the job. People who attempt to make contact with me during that "fragile" stage in the code evolution see a very different (and not too friendly) me. As far as I'm concerned, it is not only normal, it's a very GOOD sign that we are close to seeing a final product, particularly considering the scope of this project.
