Billy Mays autopsy result

Discovery is airing a new Billy Mays tribute episode of Pitchmen tonight at 9pm, for those who are interested.

I'm watching. I'll bet my dad is also. We finally caught up yesterday and he was saddened by the passing as well.

Wow, this episode is pretty funny.

The special was very, very well done and very, very sad. Watching Sully choke up was just... heartbreaking. Watching Billy with his five-year-old daughter just tore my heart out.

:(

The final report was issued today. It says that cocaine use was a factor in his death.

Mays died from a lethal arrhythmia of the heart caused by hypertensive and arteriosclerotic heart disease," the county said in a statement attributed to Dr. Leszek Chrostowski, the associate medical examiner who conducted the autopsy.

"He further concluded that cocaine use caused or contributed to the development of his heart disease, and therefore contributed to his death," it added.

The fact that toxicology tests detected only breakdown products of cocaine, not the drug itself, led Chrostowski to conclude that Mays had used cocaine "in the few days prior to death but not immediately prior to death."

Still a tragic death, but I was more than a little surprised by the findings. I guess that energy had to come from somewhere.

Yeah, hearing this shocked me too and, somewhat, tarnished my opinion of him. Though I'd say he was still a heck of a guy.

Is it possible the coke came from another, more legal, source?

Candlelight, totally unknown over here (NZ/Aus).

While it's a shame when anyone dies (especially someone my own age), I cannot get worked up at all for an infomercial pitchman.

While he certainly wasn't a man of actual importance, I think that this is still important reminder to anyone to receive regular check-ups and take care of your heart.

I didn't even know who he was when he died. Am I the only person who would rather watch a "Batman and Robin" on 24 hour loop, than watch a infomerical? Why would anyone want to watcha long, boring commerical?

They can be entertaining...

R.I.P. to the most annoying person on television. Ever. No, really.

What? Rachel Ray is dead? :wtf:

Seriously though, Billy Mays was loud and obnoxious, but Pitchmen really showed the human side of him and I'm glad I got to see that before he died. I'm a little shocked to hear that he was into cocaine, but in retrospect, it kind of makes sense. RIP Billy.

Watching "Pitchmen" and seeing Billy with his young daughter is just heart-breaking.

It's disapointing that he was into cocaine but I suppose we wouldn't be saying this if he was a heavy alcoholic. Still a sad loss.

Does anyone find it a bit creepy that his company continues to use his commercials in spite of his death? I see Billy Mays hawking some product everytime I watch tv. He was just on CNN selling a hands-free cellphone gizmo for cars.

I thought this was the guy in the robot in the original Lost In Space. Then I realized it was BOB May.

With this and the coup de ville singer(whoever), it seems they've stopped dying in 3s and now they're dying in 1.25s!!!!

I don't see why it's any creepier than releasing The Dark Knight, both Heath and Billy were doing what made them great, why not show it to the public. Or did The Dark Knight make no profit?
