News Billy Dee Williams to Return in Episode 9

I like Lando, i'm delighted we will see him again. I hope he has a better fate awaiting him though.

I kind of wonder if all the Classic characters are dead by the end, including Chewie. Maybe even the Droids but I have always wondered if they are basically the Jay and Silent Bob of the main Trilogy. Maybe if they show what the new characters are doing 20 plus years in the future or whatnot they could still be around and be a kind of link that connects the prequels.Classic movies and the Disney movies.

I could be mis-remembering but I think there was an old short story set thousands of years after Star Wars where R2D2 is still up and running and carrying Luke's green lightsabre. Some plucky young kid comes to find him and via general intuition and old vids of Luke learns enough to defeat whatever was plaguing their village. I could just be imaging that though and I don;t think even legends took it as cannon.

They need to tell THAT story. Sounds like a cool idea for a SW movie. That could be what passes for a art film in the franchise. Granted it all sounds abit like that Mario Peebles movie "Solo" which everyone has forgotten. I mean both the movie and actor.:p In fact now that you bring this up it makes me wondering if someone, somewhere was stealing some idea from someone else. Not sure and sounds like a stretch but where exactly was Kathleen Kennedy in 1995 or whenever that movie came out. I think we now got a new conspiracy!

BDW has not been in the best of health in recent years, so dragging him back--to this sequel series--is not the greatest of ideas. Yes, he had to agree to do it, but what is he (or the "ahem" script) going to add to Lando? I dread seeing him make an entrance with one liners designed to sound like his OT dialogue, or have him still wearing capes, because....yeah, he's like an action figure--he has the wear the same thing or fans wont get it...

I didn't know about the health issues. I doubt he would be in any action scenes so maybe they could just have him sitting on a thrown. Maybe make him a King somewhere. Or put him in lots of Rebel leadership scenes, standing around consoles, providing needed exposition and getting in some funny quips at times. Or you could work the health issues into the story. He is a human being. Humans get old and frail so why run away from that idea?

He did Lando's voice in Battlefront 2 so he still sounds fine at least.

That sounds like the kind of story they might have done in the Tales comic book anthology series, which featured a mixture of canon and non-canon. I believe one of the Tales issues featured a story where Indiana Jones finds Han and Chewie's remains in a jungle on Earth. I know for sure that story exists, I just can't remember for sure if it was in Tales or somewhere else.

I think you're right and yes I remember that one where chewie ends up as the legend behind big foot.
Thank you by the way, I couldn't remember the name of the non cannon stories they did.
