Bill & Dee

I still love the holodeck scene in "Haven" between the two of them where Deanna says "the human heart is too small to permit that feeling now" referring to Riker not being able to consider her his beloved anymore since she's about to be married off, and Riker says it's damned unfair to him to expect as much.

I love Haven ... Lwaxana Troi comes across as less annoying in it, even. I really hate to admit it, but I did like her talks with Wyatt, because she didn't act like a silly cow in private with him, for the most part. Even when she said her goodbyes to him, at the end, I thought that was nice and I always smile at her little dismissive wave at Deanna, who doesn't get what she was talking about.

But yes, when Riker and Deanna are in the holodeck, it's quite a sharp contrast from when they were first reunited, in the pilot episode. Troi was so emotional, crying and shouting, fearing for the safety of her Imzadi. Now, she's trying to force Will to accept what's happening on her terms. A kind of role-reversal, if you like.

It was good, actually, that the whole "Imzadi" thing was never properly defined, because its inclusion in TNG never made much sense, honestly. Just have them be former lovers, what's all of these strings about? Until their love is rekindled in the movies, that answer was never going to present itself. It's also cool to see the Federation President from STAR TREK IV (!!!!) acting as the father, here.

The "trombone" scene, where Will communicates with her using his instrument (um, you know what I meant :p) is such a great 'Imzadi moment' because it shows not only how freely Will and Deanna communicate, as two people who have been lovers and known each other a long time and are absolutely honest with one another in all things, but also because it shows the same 'easy chemistry' exists between the actors, Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis. It's the perfect 'twofer'. ;)

I also love that moment in "Violations" when Troi is in a coma and Riker is talking to her. So sweet when he says he misses her. And the flashback scene she has.
