Adding that scene in like that, would be doing what everyone blasts George Lucas for at this point, and even if they did? Only in the minds of a few purist would it be "THE END" to anyone else that thinks they can still make a buck? They'll make another.

Adding that scene in like that, would be doing what everyone blasts George Lucas for at this point, and even if they did? Only in the minds of a few purist would it be "THE END" to anyone else that thinks they can still make a buck? They'll make another.
I could see them making a trailer/teaser to put after the previews or after the end credits, but only as an ad for the experience.
When it comes to 3D, I think Big Jim's earned out trust. If he says his Titanic conversion will look good, I'll take him at his word.
Oh, and about that alternate, non-canon ending (for any T-film)... HELLS and NO.
Yeah, I think the "future coda" scene would be stupid to put in at this point. Something like that would be a little different than adding in the other removed scenes. The coda wasn't removed for time it was removed because Cameron simply didn't like it.
Did he actually not like it, or did he not like the fact it closed the book on doing anything else with the franchise? Personally, I think it would be awesome if he included the future coda. It would be a great big giant fuck you to everyone who ruined the franchise after he walked away from it! 
Of course, I doubt very much they'll 3D-ize the extended cut.
I don't think they should do it, at all, personally. I mean, I get doing something like Avatar in 3D. Makes a difficult concept more immersive. Helps bring people back to theaters for an experience they can't replicate at home. It works if it suits the tone of the film. Like Tron Legacy. But taking older movies and making them 3D just to re-release them crosses the line into zero creative purpose and lands firmly in plain, crass, commerciality. How is this any different than colourizing?
Trekker, I'm surprised you, after going off on how double dipping on DVD's is this unholy, dishonest sin due to it's money grubbing-ness, would support this 3D-ing old movies enterprise.

I feel like Jabba's palace scene is almost totally ruined with the different music and pacing. It diminishes the fact that Jabba is a cold-blooded executioner and scoundrel and almost makes a comedy out of him tossing people into the rancor pit. If there was one hang-out in the galaxy worse than the Mos Eisley Cantina it would be Jabba's, and he fiddled with that to add more singing and cute CGI slapstick.
Not only one at a time but it's always the same one.
I think he wasn't happy with how that version of the future looked or with Linda Hamilton's old age make-up. I think he also liked ending things a bit more ambiguously, even if he didn't necessarily want them to make any more movies.
A lot of difference between releasing a bullshit bare-bones release, knowing full-well you'll release a more expanded version months later, and simply releasing a new version on better technology.
Releasing a Blu-Ray 3D DVD of "T2" is no more "double dipping" than it was "double dipping" when T2 was released on DVD after being on VHS for umpteen years.
