Big Finish closing the costuming gap between Eight and Nine?

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be hostile, or reading that into yours. It was more of a broad question to everyone else in the thread. :techman:

I can understand how you might see it like that, with the leather comparison. I guess, for me, these two look as different as Ten/Eleven:

This picture of McGann is rubbish. You'd think they'd cobble together an official one if this meant any more than fuck all. It looks like a blurry snap of a man who pretends to be selling you the Big Issue before lifting your wallet. La.

And yeah, it's a snapshot from a convention. I feel assured they will be releasing an "official" look soon enough...

All this for some audios about 300 people listen to. Does anyone really want or care about this?

I think it's cool, personally. And yes, I'm tired of the dated, Neil Gaiman gothy Lord Byron-look . It's nice to see a new fashion on a viable Doc. Also, since we've never explored his look any further in fourteen years, I think it's well over due. I'm also very for updating the other living Classic Docs. No reason to make them parade around in question mark jumpers and clown clothes... :techman:

I always thought the Seventh Doctor's costume in the TV movie worked really well for him.

Yeah, I'm down with Syl's TV Movie outfit. But, Colin, Tom, and Peter would all be good candidates for a similar update.

Like this one they did for Peter...

Always thought it looked better than the tan-and-celery.

I like Davison's outfit, well I definitely like the shirt and the cricket jumper. I think McCoy's outfit got a lot better by the end, and yeah was pretty good in the TVM. Even Colin's could have worked if it'd just been toned down a bit. The worst thing was that they didn't look thrown togeather in the way other Doctor's looks did, they all just looked a bit manufactured (Though Sly's as I say was a lot better by the end)

Its a pity RTD/BBC didn't have the balls to launch the 2005 Doctor Who with McGann because Chris left after a season so what was the point really.

No.

The point, of course, was having Christopher Eccleston instead of scratching some minor fanwankish itch.

You seem to care about it quite a bit.

I'm not crazy about the look but it's on audio so I don't mind. Haven't picked up an audio adventure in a long time, though. Gotta get one soon.

The audios should be given some more credit-while largely just for fans, they did influence some of the new series, notably the Dalek stories (They even use the same voice actor for the Daleks!). They also give the 1980s Doctors and Mcgann better, more mature scripts to work with-as well as more material to expand their role as the Doctor that their relatively short eras on TV didn't give them.

The audio dramas at their best consistently realized the potential that was always latent in the old series... but very rarely actually hit.

I like it how in the new ones that they're dogging Turlough about being the Black Guardians bitch and equally dogging Tegan about being the Mara's bitch... It seems that Nyssa was the only goodly well behaved companion from that crop.

I like the new look. Sort of says "constantly on the run...fugitive" to me. Sort of would work for a "Time War Era" Doctor. On the run from Gallifrey, From Rassilon, From the Daleks, the whole universe after him, wearing him down till he has to do whatever he did that sealed the War in a Time Lock.

Is it me, or does it give off a sort of "medical soldier" vibe? Slap a cross on the side of his satchel, and I could see him running through a war-torn battlefield trying to patch-up soldiers...

I could see that very easily for the Doctor. Trying to save lives, trying to "heal" the damage done by the Time War as it rages around him.
