Big difference studying for the Bar this year

As many of you know, I went to law school and did very well in class, studied for the Bar, and failed very nicely. At that time, I was freakin out quite a bit because I just couldn't think. While some classmates said it was because all I was saying was that I would fail, I was trying to explain that I couldn't think right due to health issues.

Well, the chest pains, thyroid problems, blood pressure--all the things that impaired my thinking so well--they're still present but under better control. Chest pain? Only lightly and only occasionally. Thyroid problems? Medication levels were increased and have taken some effect. Blood pressure? Not racing to 150/100 every other day, but not as low as it might be.

And other fun I found out was going on last year: My vitamin D level was so low, the cardiologist told me to buy some on the way home that day. Put it all together and, yeah, my thinking ability was screwed royally. Even with that, I juuuuuust missed passing.

Anyway, so I'm back to studying and learning just what I need to do to pass. I can't remember what I used to do, so starting fresh sounds like a good idea. And looking at sample answers actually makes sense this year! Last year, I couldn't figure out what the heck I was supposed to be gleaning from them. Now it's obvious. And I'm envisioning passing and celebrating--positive thoughts.

While my thinking is not quite where it was, it is much better than last year. Even Hubby, who is disgustingly observant and can be hypercritical, doesn't comment beyond "You're thinking was way off; now it's only a little off. But I think it's a permanent effect from everything."

Thanks to all for your past, present, and hopefully future, support. And thanks for letting me vent.

Y'all are good people here.

I'm right there with you on the thyroid issues. Get those sorted as fast and as thoroughly as you can. It makes an enormous difference in your mood, your energy and your ability to process information.

Make sure that you monitor your diet, not only for Vitamin D, but iron as well.

I'm sure you will ACE that test this time, without any problem. :techman:

Expecting you to blow the top off this test this year.

If you came close last year, think how well you will do now!:techman:

I'll go on keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.:techman::techman:

Vitamin D is available in sunlight too - do some of your studying outside! :)

Dad got three kinds of skin cancer--and he had slightly darker skin and hazel eyes. I'm very pale and have light blue-gray eyes (almost like the Hulk).

But I'm trying to get a little sun, now that there's sun. And I take multivitamins.

I'm delighted to hear that things are going better for you this year. Now that you know how to deal with these health issues, you should be fine. You did amazingly well in the face of these problems, so you'll be brilliant now that you're receiving treatment.
