I'm not sure I understand why he was still pulled even though he didn't get any venom. It seemed like it was about concerns over his emotional state, but shouldn't it have been his choice if it weren't a direct threat to his life or limb?
I got the impression that one of the deciding factors was that Jake hadn't had much food or water for however many days since the season began, because that tribe never did get flint to make a fire to cook anything or boil water. So he would have been suffering from hunger and dehydration, not to mention there wouldn't have been an opportunity to boil water for any kind of hot-water washing. Of course his emotional state was a factor, and they mentioned adrenaline.
I'm guessing they were being super-careful with the issue of keeping the wound site clean, with the fact that Jake hadn't had proper nutrition for a long time, and the combination of anxiety and hot weather could contribute to other kinds of illness that might have led to him being pulled anyway (Jake is from a city that's about 2 hours north of where I live, and while we do get hot weather in summer, it's not hot like Fiji is during the time when they film, and the nearest ocean is a 2-day drive; Jake wouldn't have been used to that sort of climate at all).
I like that Jag and Jas are trying to play alliance and letting other teams win, but they're in delusion if they think it's going to keep them from being targeted by a voting U turn. Thankfully they have the express pass and it won't end their game.
It was amusing/bemusing that those three couples got together and created an alliance, complete with a name. That just doesn't happen on TAR. I'm sure that "WTF?" was one of the things going through Phil's mind at that point, when they gave up first place for the women.
AR has been pretty predictable so far except I'm surprised Kyland and Taylor aren't doing better than they are.
I was trying to remember where I'd seen Kyland, and just looked him up. I was never a fan of the Cookout alliance, so that's sufficient reason not to root for this team. I'd root for Taylor if she had a different partner (even if she did annoy the hell out of me on BB with her flashy costumes and posing and draping herself all over the furniture with a "LOOK AT ME" attitude; I wonder if she ever realized that this is why some of the other houseguests didn't like her).
The Turners seemed to get lost at every opportunity.
It's insane. When time kept on and on and on and Matt and Megan weren't on the screen at all, I wondered if they'd gotten pulled from the game for some reason. How could they have taken so long to drive places, even if they'd gotten lost (they only got lost once, as I recall)? They still had two tasks to do when they got eliminated.
So now I have no idea of who to root for. I very much hope Izzy gets eliminated soon. She was so awful in BB - not likeable at all.
Oh, and the hockey thing? It's just plain HOCKEY. Calling it "ice hockey" is ridiculous. Yes, there's field hockey, floor hockey, street hockey, shinny, and even tabletop hockey. But when all is said and done, specifying "ice" is nonsense.
That coin made me wonder if that was a nod to Canada. The Canadians who prepared the ice at the Olympics embedded a loonie at centre ice for good luck - and it worked. Canada won gold. Ever since then it's become a Canadian superstition/good luck thing.
