Big Brother Season 27 (2025) / Survivor Season 49 (2025) / The Amazing Race Season 38 (2025)

Season 16 is my favorite season and Frankie is the third or fourth biggest reason.

I missed AR live because for some reason I thought because the premiere was on Thursday it was permanently on Thursday. I've seen it now. Pretty happy about who went home. Jag/Jas look extremely dominant, I hope if they lose it's not because of a U turn vote cause they're 100% the target of any U turn vote.

Turner's probably next, he seems to crack under pressure on a dime.

Did you know that Frankie Grande was an honest to gawd Super Villain trying to conquer the good natured idyllic town of Swellview?

Finally saw the end of Big Brother.

"The Order"

Doh.

I hope Turner and Megan can find some part of the race they do well in. Turner came in 3rd in BB, so that means he's not hopeless at competing, and he doesn't tend to be rude to people to the point where they move against him out of anger (strategy is fair).

Above all, I don't want this to become "The Jag Show." I want other teams to win as well.

Thank goodness Angela's gone.

As for Survivor, that was a very welcome blindside. As for the worm-eating... very old-school Survivor, and protein is protein.

Um, that video. WTAF is that? It's creepy. I like Frankie on BB. Whatever this is, it's CREEPY.

If they made Adam West's Batman "today" (with exactly the same budget) it would be Nickelodeon's "Henry Danger".

Angela is a national treasure, who should be hidden somewhere dark and dusty, and the only way to find her is by solving a series of epic brain teasers and puzzles hidden around and allover the planet.

I'm not sure I understand why he was still pulled even though he didn't get any venom. It seemed like it was about concerns over his emotional state, but shouldn't it have been his choice if it weren't a direct threat to his life or limb?

I like that Jag and Jas are trying to play alliance and letting other teams win, but they're in delusion if they think it's going to keep them from being targeted by a voting U turn. Thankfully they have the express pass and it won't end their game.

AR has been pretty predictable so far except I'm surprised Kyland and Taylor aren't doing better than they are.

The Turners seemed to get lost at every opportunity.

I got the impression that one of the deciding factors was that Jake hadn't had much food or water for however many days since the season began, because that tribe never did get flint to make a fire to cook anything or boil water. So he would have been suffering from hunger and dehydration, not to mention there wouldn't have been an opportunity to boil water for any kind of hot-water washing. Of course his emotional state was a factor, and they mentioned adrenaline.

I'm guessing they were being super-careful with the issue of keeping the wound site clean, with the fact that Jake hadn't had proper nutrition for a long time, and the combination of anxiety and hot weather could contribute to other kinds of illness that might have led to him being pulled anyway (Jake is from a city that's about 2 hours north of where I live, and while we do get hot weather in summer, it's not hot like Fiji is during the time when they film, and the nearest ocean is a 2-day drive; Jake wouldn't have been used to that sort of climate at all).

It was amusing/bemusing that those three couples got together and created an alliance, complete with a name. That just doesn't happen on TAR. I'm sure that "WTF?" was one of the things going through Phil's mind at that point, when they gave up first place for the women.

AR has been pretty predictable so far except I'm surprised Kyland and Taylor aren't doing better than they are.

I was trying to remember where I'd seen Kyland, and just looked him up. I was never a fan of the Cookout alliance, so that's sufficient reason not to root for this team. I'd root for Taylor if she had a different partner (even if she did annoy the hell out of me on BB with her flashy costumes and posing and draping herself all over the furniture with a "LOOK AT ME" attitude; I wonder if she ever realized that this is why some of the other houseguests didn't like her).

The Turners seemed to get lost at every opportunity.

It's insane. When time kept on and on and on and Matt and Megan weren't on the screen at all, I wondered if they'd gotten pulled from the game for some reason. How could they have taken so long to drive places, even if they'd gotten lost (they only got lost once, as I recall)? They still had two tasks to do when they got eliminated.

So now I have no idea of who to root for. I very much hope Izzy gets eliminated soon. She was so awful in BB - not likeable at all.

Oh, and the hockey thing? It's just plain HOCKEY. Calling it "ice hockey" is ridiculous. Yes, there's field hockey, floor hockey, street hockey, shinny, and even tabletop hockey. But when all is said and done, specifying "ice" is nonsense.

That coin made me wonder if that was a nod to Canada. The Canadians who prepared the ice at the Olympics embedded a loonie at centre ice for good luck - and it worked. Canada won gold. Ever since then it's become a Canadian superstition/good luck thing.

I liked the cookout alliance and he's been on The Challenge more than Big Brother so I'm a fan of his. Especially since last season on Challenge, he was kind of screwed in his first final because every single leg in the final was about swimming.

Jag and Jas didn't want to win three legs in a row because they're terrified of the U-Turn.

They would be at risk of being U-turned even for winning a single leg. That's often the case with the leg winners.

Currently watching season 22, the Russell/Rob season.

I'm not sure who the worst Survivor player of all time is just cause a lot of the early exit people aren't memorable. But Angelica, the woman who sided with Russell just because she thought his victory was inevitable and wanted to be the one dragged along for the ride, she has to be on the shortlist of worst players ever.

I'd need to see pictures of these people, because unless they're extremely memorable for me, I tend to forget them about 2 minutes after the season ends.

I don't remember most of them either. Some seasons I remembered more than others, I remembered a surprising amount of what happened this season. I'm sure you remember Philip. And I did remember the people who did well in Redemption Island.

But watching it I just can't understand why nobody ever went against Rob. It's like they conspired the whole season to hand him the win. And his strategy seemed to boil down to "Play like Russell but be nicer".

I'm about to move onto season 23, I don't remember at all this point which season is which but I think it's probably the Coach/Ozzy season which introduced Cochran. I remember nobody else from that season except the winner Sophie.

Edit: Also it's Brandon's first season. It's kind of sad, knowing he's in prison now. Seeing him trying so hard to improve himself, knowing in Blood vs Water he falls back on his old habits and then in real life collapses completely.

I wouldn't know Sophie if she turned up on my doorstep 10 minutes from now, but I definitely remember Coach, Ozzy, and Cochran. I saw two of the seasons Coach was on, but the other time was during a spell when I didn't have a functioning TV so I couldn't watch anything. I liked Cochran, and still remember what he said when Jeff commented on his sunburn, saying that it had happened "instantly."

Sophie was my original pick to win Winners at War but she ended up 9th place I think. I really think she's one of the best winners, she had such a memorable finals speech. "Russell made alliances with young girls, I couldn't do that, Coach was my young girl".

I'm pretty happy with the team that got eliminated in Amazing Race. I'm pretty annoyed that Jag and Jas were set back due to cab driver racism.

I won't see Survivor until tomorrow morning. But since nobody cares about Challenge spoilers. Dee got eliminated. She kinda got screwed a bit, she was paired up with a guy who is a Challenge legend but over 40 now and he didn't carry his weight in the elimination. Anyway looking forward to seeing her in Survivor 50.

It was a tough elimination. The man fought the man and the woman fought the woman five rounds. Derrick, Dee's partner, lost all five rounds. Dee won all five rounds. Then they did a tiebreaker by doing a coinflip to see if it were man vs man and woman vs woman. The coin flip made it man vs man and her partner lost. If the coin flip made it woman vs woman she probably would have survived. So she basically lost on a coin flip.

Cochran is such an interesting player. The only player you can say played one of the worst Survivor games AND one of the best Survivor games of all time.

Such an ugly attitude from those cab drivers, and kudos to the guys for managing with public transit.

EDIT: I've had time to watch Survivor. I'm not unhappy with who was voted out. I am trying to figure out who merits being rooted for, after Jake's leaving.

My question about this episode: Why didn't they pull their boat above the high-water mark so it (and the shoe) wouldn't have been lost when the tide came in? I live in a landlocked province of Canada, a 2-day drive from the nearest ocean, and even I know you don't leave your stuff where it can be carried off by the tide.

Another note about Survivor 23 which I'm currently watching.

Coach "This is the third and final chapter of my Survivor journey."

HA! Never say those kinds of things on Survivor when you're still on Jeff's speed dial. Watching the speeches I'm a little surprised Coach didn't win, he basically dominated the whole season and was solely responsible for flipping Cochran. I think he's one of the top contenders for 50.

Coach is one of those interesting players who people remember for various reasons. I'll confess that one reason I remember him is that even though he was basically a jerk in his first season - a strutting, bragging peacock with no ability to read a room - I did find him very easy on the eyes (shallow, I know, but whatever).

Fast-forward to past his first season and he became much more interesting because he appears to have learned from his first experience. He's still a strutting, overconfident braggart, but is less unpleasant about it. I was sorry to see him lose in his final season because by that point I think he deserved the win.
