Big Brother Season 27 (2025) / Survivor Season 49 (2025) / The Amazing Race Season 38 (2025)

I started rewatching season 19 of Survivor (Russell's first). I totally forgot that Russell wasn't even the worst human being that season. Ben's even more obnoxious and racist than Colton.

Not sure I could rewatch that.

Well, that set of nominations was predictable. I guess they all figure they're just going to hand the game to Rachel and be happy with second place.

I don't. I don't have clear memories of when she was on before, but I know I didn't like her then or now.

She acts like she's some font of wisdom, and the others should be on their knees in worship. People like that just make me want them gone.
Trust me, old Rachel was insufferable in that it was 100% of her personality. When she was nothing but taglines and fawning over Brendon in addition to being loud and grating, I hated her.

The part I enjoy now is when the other houseguests try and threaten her and the claws come out. I applaud that for the most part she has been quiet because old Rachel would've been first out the door.

I'm a little pissed about yesterday's episode even though I don't mind who lost. It goes completely against the spirit of the game to have somebody go home without being voted out.

These reality shows think they need to throw in stupid 'Twists' to make it exciting, no, you designed a good game, just do the game correctly.

I wanted to see Rachel get put up and sent home by good strategy, not cause she couldn't do a challenge in 3:30.

Personally, I'm delighted at how that situation turned out. Of course it means the jury will likely be bitter and she'll make it hell for everyone else, but at least the houseguests will be spared several weeks of bluster and bragging and strutting and boasting and general obnoxiousness.

She had a fair chance to save herself and she couldn't do it. I hope the door hit her on the way out.

Honestly, I'm neutral. I agree with Timewalker that she had a chance to save herself and couldn't do it. I liked the idea of the challenge when it debuted in Reindeer Games with a lot more likeable people and I think it still takes a keen social game to navigate whether and when you play and how much time you get. The choice of Vince by Ava is what screwed Rachel (theoretically - because she still could have flubbed it with more time).

That being said, you've brought not only a vet, but Rachel back and made that a big part of your season and marketing. She is eliminated on a challenge blocked from feeds and ship her off to jury for the back half of the game. You can't fix the game at that point, but perhaps make America have a vote for safety, one she would have won pretty handily. It's just seems like bad planning on production's part.

Last night's eviction of Will was painful to watch, mainly because we are forced to listen to more Ashley. I would probably think that same way that apparently Vince & Morgan did, that he couldn't be in a final two chairs, which will probably get Ava too at some point. But unlike Ava, Will had yet to win anything. I just can't stand Ashley.

Please use spoiler tags within the first 24 hours when mentioning who was evicted or won comps. That's an agreement we made because some of us are in later time zones. I haven't had a chance to see last night's episode yet, so thanks a lot. :vulcan:

I just hate eliminating people without a vote for the same reason I hate the U turn in Amazing Race. It goes against the spirit of the game. Big Brother shouldn't be The Challenge the same way Amazing Race shouldn't be Survivor.

The rest of this season seems to be going at breakneck base, we're going to be down to 5 soon. I have no idea how this season is going or who I'm rooting for. Anyone but Kelley could win at this point.

Keanu could realistically win HoH or veto every time and get to the end, and even though I rooted against Cameron and Tucker for the same reason, Keanu is one of the few players left with an actual game so I don't mind. Vince, I like his game moves, but can not stand the way he fake cries and pretends it was oh so hard for him. Own your damn game Vince.

I hated Ava at the start but now I think she might have the strongest game. I won't be mad if she wins anymore just cause you can at least defend her social game. Lauren and Kelley, no game. Morgan, she had such a strong early game but it's fallen apart since then, she has to really pick it up and make a new game.

Then there's Ashley. I didn't like her at the start but I think she's played a strong game since then. Really I'd be more okay with her winning than Lauren, Kelley or Morgan at this point.

I don't want Lauren to win. Have you noticed that when she's talking to anyone in the HoH room, she never looks them in the eye, but continues to watch the monitor that room has on the rest of the house?

She's so busy spying on everyone else, that she's missing the body language and social cues of the person who's in the same room with her.

Well, two more are gone, and I'm fine with that. At this point, I am expecting either Morgan or Keanu to win. Vince might make final 3, but I don't think he'd win. This jury is probably going to be a bitter one.

Anyway, Survivor starts tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 24). The Amazing Race premieres on Thursday, Sept. 25, but will move to Wednesday next week so it'll be the usual Survivor/Amazing Race Wednesday lineup.

I'm looking forward to The Amazing Race, because the cast is entirely made up of past-season Big Brother houseguests and their loved ones.

At this point I'm praying Morgan wins. Ashley *might* be okay. Vince is the only other person who played any sort of real game but I'm losing respect for him on a personal level.

First impressions of Survivor. At first impression I didn't like the cast, I felt a few of them were cloying 'Begging for attention' types. But once the game got moving I started to like them more. I'm enjoying Jake and the older African American man. It's hard to tell who's going to do well long term at this point, there's no clear standouts.

Looking forward to Amazing Race tonight.

In The Challenge, they picked permanent partners this week. Michaela from Survivor ended up with Cedric from Big Brother and they might be one of the favorites to win. America's also still in but much less likely to win.

Challenge has a slightly different format every year and this year's was interesting. The first eight weeks, they paired up with different people, and the top 8 pairs got 1 to 8 points depending on their position. Then this week, the points were used to determine the order people got to select the permanent partners. Michaela got to pick first and chose Cedric.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that one of the male castaways is from Edmonton. That's the capital of my province and only 90 minutes north of here.

It's too soon to tell which of them are likeable or not. It usually takes me at least a month to really start learning names.

Regardless of who wins BB, it actually wasn't dumb of them to get rid of Keanu. Since part of the final HoH is usually a grueling physical competition, getting rid of the biggest, most-like-to-win person was smart. Vince needs to emphasize that and own it, if he lasts long enough to make a final speech.

I was pretty happy with who went home tonight.

When Enzo was on Challenge he quit at a time when quitting meant another player (Desi from Survivor) got eliminated with him. I still have a grudge against him for that.

It pretty much seems Jag/Jas and Tucker/his brother are the obvious teams to beat. It feels like a season that's going to be dominated, maybe Kyland/Taylor could do something.

Feels like Kat is next, I don't even remember her from Big Brother but it feels like she just doesn't have the emotional integrity.

Okay, I'm going to call it right now. Unless something very unlucky happens, Jag or Taylor will win.

I'm just relieved Matt and his wife (don't remember her name) are still in this. He's the one I really wanted to win BB (Taylor won that, and she owes a small part of that win to Matt calling everyone out for their bullying of her during his first HoH). Anyone who dismisses him should remember that he came in a respectable 3rd in his season.

I am NOT pleased to see Izzy in this. I'd hoped to never see her obnoxious self again.

I didn't dislike Izzy but her weird grudge against Jag for surviving an eviction based on a twist is kind of obnoxious.

I wanted Marco to win that season, he made such a huge mistake keeping Taylor over Turner. I like Turner but he's proven he has a bad sense of direction. He's not making it far.

You don't see Tucker as being just as big a contender as Jag and Kyland/Taylor?

Izzy was one of the most obnoxious houseguests I can remember within the past 5 seasons. She treated everyone like shit except Cirie.

I liked Turner in BB, but in TAR... hopefully his wife drives next time. Or maybe this was just one of those unfortunate pieces of bad luck. Or maybe Turner's young enough that he never had to learn to actually read a real map? I honestly don't understand why some racers prepare for it with physical exercise but don't learn to drive a variety of vehicles or even read a map.

Maps actually aren't that hard. Way back in Grade 6 (I was 10 at the time), in preparation for a 3-day outdoor education thing our grade had to do at a camp, we were taught the basics of how to use a compass, and then taken out to a local wetland area and told to find our way back to school. I'm talking quasi-swamp (the locals called it "Salamander Swamp") with grass stems as tall as we were.

I made it back just fine. We had to do a similar exercise at the camp, as well as an orienteering contest. As I recall, my cabin came in third, but the prize was peanuts.

Literally. We won a bag of peanuts.

Tucker is someone I remember disliking on BB. He's going to have to work to earn my liking on this show. I'm curious to see if Angela pulls out one of her patented rants and screaming sessions. Somehow I don't think Phil would take it in stride like Julie does.

Thoughts on the Big Brother finale?

As usual, the person I picked to win didn't win, but at least he was close. He'll be kicking himself over that comp for awhile, but then so will Morgan, for the competition she messed up in.

As for Ashley... yikes. "YAP-YAP-YAP-YAPPITY-YAP-YAP-YAP..." (and on and on and on...)

I've seen Legally Blonde a few times. But after this I will probably never watch it again. Seeing Elle Woods being channeled like this in such a shrill, nonstop, eye-rollingly annoying way has ruined it. Just shut up, Ashley.

Oh, and Ava? Close your mouth before a swarm of 6-legged lifeforms takes up residence. Yikes. What was up with all those bizarre facial tics?

I didn't like Rachel for about 99.9% of the time she was on, but at least she did keep the jury from descending into too much bitterness. Yeah, some of them were bitter. And Rachel's still full of herself as a "legend." I'd like to see her try to tackle Survivor in one of those ridiculous gowns.

The Mastermind reveal was entertaining, though I don't remember one of them. Apparently he was in the same season that Evil Dick and his horrible daughter were in, so that may be why I blanked him out. I remember about 4 people from that season, and none of them in a positive way.

So, that's BB for another year.

I wanted Morgan to win but I was glad Ashley won over Vince. The questions were comical. A lawyer versus a manchild in a debate meet. But I think Ashley actually convinced me she deserved it. I'm watching through Heroes vs Villains right now and her game reminds me a *lot* of Sandra's.

I remembered Eric, you don't remember the "America's Player" twist, the guy who was forced to put up his ally because of the twist that made him nominate his ally as HoH based on America's vote? Of course I remember Frankie but don't remember what the Rewind was about.

A lot of people are saying it's the worst season. I think that the winter season and BB15 (The one with four racists including Aaryn) are worse, but I agree it's the worst recent season. Then again I didn't really watch the winter season. The first episode, they had that twist where they matched people up as 'Couples' and had the actual couples not matched up. Then they let one person single handedly eliminate an entire couple. That made me turn it off right there.

Anyway on to Survivor and Amazing Race. I thought Rachel was one of the only ones this season making it entertaining and I think the producers egged her on to lean into the "Icon" talk.

Although right now Challenge is the active reality show I'm most excited about.

There were some seasons I missed due to lack of TV. So there are some seasons I have never seen (BB is one of the shows geoblocked on Paramount + Canada, so I can't watch it there).

I remember Frankie vividly. I'd like to see him come back sometime.
