Big Bang Theory Season 9 Discussion (Spoilers included)

I get the feeling that, maybe because the show only has two seasons left, that the writers are really trying to give it their all.

That's just my opinion anyway.

Another good one! Season 9 so far is a big improvement over 7 and 8. The fencing was hilarious, and Sheldon getting jealous. His scene with Amy was kind of bittersweet:(

I thought so, too. I'm really starting to dislike Sheldon for the way he treats Amy. I'm hoping that she ends up with some hunk.

Well, he treats everybody the same which in reality would mean that his friends should have kicked his ass a long time ago but much of the BBT comedy is centered around this character trait.

Amy is really the first who confronts him with it and is consequent enough to stick with it (much as you would do with a small child when you show it the line and remain consequent despite all the tantrums). I think it's a very good storyline and possibility of character growth for both Sheldon and Amy, even moreso for Sheldon who now feels what he had with Amy.

It may still take a while to fully sink in but we can already see the regret in Sheldon but he is not quite there yet to realize what he did wrong and what he can do to fix it but i think by the end of the season, maybe even as soon as sweeps early next year they will be together again and he will propose.

I agree that the show is picking up compared to the sour relationship drama of the start of the season. Looking forward to the rest.

I think it would be interesting if Amy did date someone else, for a few episodes at least. But deep down I think she only wants her sexy praying mantis!

Sheldon has become a cartoon version of his worst qualities. The same thing happened to Felix on the Odd Couple 40 years ago - he started out just being a lovable fussbudget, then they amplified his annoying qualities over the years until you wondered why Oscar hadn't cut him into tiny bits and fed him to the garbage disposal. At this point on BBT you wonder why anyone wants to be friends with Sheldon.

Sheldon will always be Sheldon but he has made progress over the years. I think his relationship with Amy has been a positive influence on him.

I don't think he is as difficult as when we (or Leonard) first met him.

Uhm.. he's always been like this from day one. In fact they made him more "human" over the years that showed him he has compassion for his closest friends and that he does love Amy (in his own way). These "outbursts" are rare but they are there.

Oh they will. Those two are endgame for sure. They will be back together before the season finale.

I fully expect the season finale to be about their wedding, maybe by sweeps they have them together and he proposes during sweeps.

^ It's a possibility but I could see their wedding happening next season. Seeing as it will be the last, it would make more sense. Sheldon will have come full circle and finally be ready for that kind of commitment. That's just me though.

Has it been confirmed that it will be the last? As far as i know it's only confirmed that the show is ordered to 10th season but i can't remember it being said it would be the last.

As always it depends on the actors and most likely on the paychecks (and i seem to remember the cast, or some of them, are now the highest paid TV actors currently on a running show).

That's actually kind of depressing considering TBBT is not what one would consider the height of entertainment.

Well it's insanely popular. So the actors probably get a good amount of money because of it's high ratings.

I don't know for sure if 10 will be the last so I could be way off. But I think it should end.

After the pay dispute with the leads last year I think they were signed for another three years which would take them up to season 10.

Given the Parson and Galecki are costing the producers $1 mil an ep (shades of what happened with the cast of Friends), I can't see it going past a 10th season unless the network would prepapred to pony up even more moeny.

Honestly, it should have ended a few years ago. Some shows just don't know when to stop. They milk it for all it's worth so that by the time it does end, people are cheering instead of crying. Not the best strategy.

I'd think being popular counts as being "the height of entertainment".

I wouldn't think that. "Popular" doesn't always equate to "best".

Best is subjective. For some popular means best.
