Big Bang Theory Season 9 Discussion (Spoilers included)

I guess it's time for this, at least in "nerd" circles , controversial show to get a discussion thread for the current season.

First 2 episodes out now kind of left me lukewarm The first was not very funny but chock full of relationship drama which just feels tiresome with the characters and stories present in BBT.

I hope they move past this relationship drama soon because i had not a good laugh with them yet, merely a few nice chuckles.

This is exactly the conversation my wife and I had after this week's episode.
Last night I watched a season 2 episode on our local station, and became wistful for what once was. I have no doubt that this season will get better than what we've had so far, but it won't get back to being consistently funny.

Me too! I'm so over Leonard and Penny and I've never cared for Howard/Bernadette but I've loved the Shamy relationship from the start. I've enjoyed watching their progression. They kissed and he enjoyed it, he took care of Amy when she was ill, he told her that he loved her. It's been great to watch Sheldon grow as a person. What's even more endearing is that they both accept each other as is.

He had a ring for crying out loud!

That was actually a very funny episode albeit still referencing the relationship drama but with good humor.

I loved how the guys tried to use science to unscrew the locked bolt (and the cue cards along with it) but i instantly knew what would happen once they made thermite

The girls were funny too but it's good that Amy doesn't have psychic powers or the show might have had its own Carrie moment

If they keep this up it should be a good season.

I really liked it too. It was nice to see the guys hanging out together, without the girls. Sheldon's solo and Raj's Lamaze breathing was hilarious!

Amy as a person has come so far since we first met her.

Penny: "Amy broke up with Sheldon, got her ears pierced, and made us eat penis cookies!"

It was. Howard and Raj trying to write a song was hilarious! Sheldon reverting back to 2003 was so Sheldon. I just don't like what the writers are doing to Stuart.

I didn't like the band/song storyline, that was too cringe worthy (at least we know Raj is still with Emily, i love her character and dark humor).

Sheldon was funny and they took care to revert the appartment back to the state we saw in late season 3 when Leonard recalls how he met Sheldon, great attention to detail (even better they have shown how pissed Amy is at him, a year ago he wouldn't even have to finish the sentence and she'd be packing up her appartment to move in with him).

It's kinda weird that my wife and I happen to be watching last season on DVD during dinner (one ep a night), except when there's a new CURRENT episode, in which case we skip the next ep on the DVD and watch the current one on DVR. So far we're managing to keep the timeline straight.
