BIG BANG; best Show!!!

i saw a bunch of season 1's at Costco for like $12.99, same with seasons one of Chuck and Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Seinfeld's still my all time favorite comedy And uhh lets not go down that road again Scorpio, haha agree to disagree.

A lot of shows my friends like but I dont came on air when I was in the middle of my naval career, and TV shows were just hard to follow...

Rob

well in the case of Seinfeld, not really much to follow. It's a show about "nothing". George Costanza is one of the greatest characters in sitcom history, in my opinion.

HOWEVER...they do used canned laughter, if they need to, for scenes that are not filmed in front of a studio audience. The car scenes are not filmed in front of the audience. But if they have time, the actors who were in the scene will act out the scene in front of the audience sitting on a couple boxes, which is what they did for us...

It sounds like canned laughter to me, though. It could be they use a laugh track for consistency. It wouldn't be the first time that a show has done that... The Red Green Show was filmed in front of a studio audience, but they tended to use a laugh track as well.

Incidentally, that and Seinfeld are the only times I've ever been able to stand a laugh track.

I love the show. I remember watching for the first time also most twelve months ago when it started during summer here. I'm missing the new episodes right at the moment.

I love the show.. started watching it over christmas and punched through the first two seasons in a few days.

It is insanely funny.. i sometimes even get a few of the scientific stuff they talk about but then i get all the nerd references which is awesome!

I nearly died of laughter with the christmas episode when Penny gets Sheldon a napkin with Leonard Nimoy's autograph and he almost loses it completely.. he even hugs her!! :guffaw::guffaw:

I think it is currently one of the consistently funniest shows out there and it got a two season pickup which is quite unique.

I won't say it's the best show (That varies on my mood at the time), but it is a lot of fun.

I'd prefer it if you could knock the laughter off on the dvd, but it's still a must-watch for me:)

I've said it before but it's a good show but on that comedy block CBS has, How I met your mother is the best show out of the 4 in my opinion

I have watched The Big Bang Theory since it premiered...and I absolutely love it -- my favourite comedy on TV right now. I have found this season to be just as enjoyable as previous ones.

I have given up on How I Met Your Mother --- I just can't stand it anymore. 2.5 Men is aging and getting very tired. Accidentally on Purpose isn't bad (especially when Jon Foster is shirtless:). I also enjoy Modern Family and The Middle on ABC.

At first I thought the laugh track was annoying as heck. But after a while I just tuned it out. A lot of the episodes aren't laugh out loud funny, but enjoyable enough to get a giggle or so out of you. They're fun to watch and the references and fact can be really interesting. I'd like less Penny, though. But the Nimoy napkin one and Sheldon's reaction to it was priceless. Good lord...

it's a little different than most shows about nerds because they are not in high school or college. They have doctorates and good jobs and can enjoy their nerdy lifestyle. I wish I had friends who liked the things I do....

A kind-of Star Trek reference on Big Bang Theory:

After the apartment is robbed, Sheldon decides to leave Pasadena. His new choice of city to live in is Bozeman, Montana. And what's Bozeman famous for (although they don't say it in the episode)? It's where first contact with the Vulcans takes place.

I've just started watching this show and I love the Star Trek references. One of my favourite episodes so far ("The Bat Jar Conjecture") was full of them. It opens with a conversation about the newest Star Trek movie (which culminates in a very funny sex joke) and ends with a scene that made me laugh harder than anything I've seen in a long time.

The episode is about the main characters entering a trivia contest and arguing over who is smarter based on ability to answer trivia. When their neighbour friend tests them with pop culture trivia, their inability to answer with anything not related to Star Trek is hilariously awesome and leads to this wonderful exchange:

Penny: "What actor holds People Magazine's record for being named sexiest man alive?"
Sheldon: "William Shatner"
Leonard:"I don't think it's Shatner"
Sheldon:"Then it's gotta be Patrick Stewart"

Them saying "Romulan" when asked to complete the sentence "Tweety Bird tawt he taw a..." was almost too stupid to be funny, though. Almost. :D Anybody else watching this weekly? I'm doing that and catching up on old episodes at the same time. It's geek heaven. Or to steal an expression from the characters on the show, "nerdvana". :luvlove:

BAZINGA!

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

That nearly killed me right then and there which is not good since i'm recovering from surgery.

Awesome episode and an awesome show.. i hope they can go for a long time and find the right spot to quit before they become bad.

I love it. I'm an astronomy postdoc, so this show is right up my alley. I have to say that the portrayal of geek-dom on this show hits scarily close to home. What scientist doesn't love parodies of theoretical physics research like this?:

I will say, though, that it seems the show has gradually reduced the number of science jokes over time. I miss stuff like Sheldon's explanation of how Lois Lane would be sliced into pieces when Superman catches her, and Leonard writing an apology note which compared his remorse to Oppenheimer's work on the atomic bomb. There isn't quite so much of that stuff anymore in Season 3.
