BIG BANG; best Show!!!

I haven't watched sitcoms in years...and this BIG BANG THEORY is really a funny show. Its a show that actually makes me laugh out loud...

It has tons of TREK/Star Wars/Comic book jokes. I mean what more could you ask for? And this JIM PARSONS/Sheldon is probably the best Vulcan, which is how I look at him, to appear on TV in the past 40+ years..(sorry Tuvok)

Rob

I started watching it a year ago and slowly caught up on season 2 due to reruns, but season 1 remained largely unwatched. My wife got me the two DVD sets for Christmas and we are actually working our way through season 1 now. She didn't start watching when I did, but decided it was a decent show after seeing most of the pilot with me.

i cant find season-one at all...So looks like I will have to resort to ONLINE purchase...a friend of mine manages the local BEST BUY and told me that the BIG BANG theory out sold every over comedy this christmas...at least at his location..

Rob

Its quite a funny show, the one were they buy the actual time machine for the movie The Time Machine and then start moving around backwards had me rolling on the floor.

Sheldon's Joker smile in a second season episode is the stuff nightmares are made of.

But seriously, Jim Parsons is a comedic GENIUS.

Maybe it's just because I'm seeing it "live" instead of on DVD for the first time but this season doesn't seem to be as enjoyable as the first two. Is it just me? I'm also hating this year of 2.5 Men and this is also my first non-DVD year, but that's because of the boring fiancee and Alan's increasing annoyingness and Jake's increasing dickishness... :p

For BBT, yes it's just you. :p I think the show's as good as it's ever been which is saying a lot considering how good the first two seasons are.

I agree that Two and a Half Men has lost several steps though. Like you, this is my first "live" season after watching the first six seasons on DVD. For me, Charlie being engaged and Alan being batshit insane (instead of merely annoying as in earlier seasons) aren't working well. I actually like Jake growing up and being increasingly dickish--that's probably the only change I do buy. He's a teenager and he's acting like one.

Weird, I was just DVD shopping and I saw a big stack of season 1 at the HMV Superstore in downtown Toronto, and it was only 20 bucks Canadian, so I'd figure you could get it for like 15 bucks in the states.

Great show though, just caught the one where the guys encounter Summer Glau on a train ride to San Francisco.

^^^I will agree that laugh tracks suck, and it is one of the few issues I have with the show. Comedies like The Office, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Community and Parks and Recreation all have no laugh track, so when I do watch a comedy with one (such as BBT) it is jarring and intrusive...not to mention totally unnecessary.

We just started watching SEASON ONE tonight..we watched, me/wife/two kids, seven straight episodes and LAUGHED out loud at episodes we hadn't seen in a while...

THAT is the benchmark of a great comedy show. Can you laugh at the episode even when you know what is coming...the episode where they are dressed up as the FLASH was great!!!!

Rob

The episodes I've seen just seem to drop a lot of references while the laugh track tries to convince you to enjoy it.
Interesting. I can't say I recall hearing a laugh track.
Must be because I'm too busy lauging my ass off to hear it.

Well...I actually saw an episode filmed, the one when they go to the tatoo parlor...and it was a blast. The show is filmed in front of a live studio audience.

Rob

HOWEVER...they do used canned laughter, if they need to, for scenes that are not filmed in front of a studio audience. The car scenes are not filmed in front of the audience. But if they have time, the actors who were in the scene will act out the scene in front of the audience sitting on a couple boxes, which is what they did for us...

So...I guess we are both right..at times they might use canned laughter...

Rob

i saw a bunch of season 1's at Costco for like $12.99, same with seasons one of Chuck and Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Seinfeld's still my all time favorite comedy And uhh lets not go down that road again Scorpio, haha agree to disagree.
